Glad you are back...and don’t worry..I handled all the front-running SOBs and drank all their beer.

I appreciated the group of folks who show up week in and week out no matter how their team was doing and everyone had a good time. I too can’t suffer the folks that only show up when their team wins and then talk smack. Got no use for sissies like that. If you can’t stay in the kitchen when your team is suffering, keep your hands off the bean dip when they are winning.

Still a bit to go in the season, but I will say now that it was great fun....and nobody every beat my 15-1!!!!!!

As a fellow Dallas fan I'm with you. Ugly and disappointing loss yesterday but overall a fun ride this season. They won their division and (gasp) a playoff game. Lots to build on for next season hopefully. Any season they can wipe out the Eagles 3 times is pretty darn good!

As for yesterday, some nagging issues caught up with them. FG kicker and failure to close out offensive drives early in the game. They played an inspired and talented opponent who is extremely tough at home and were well prepared.

So many knee jerk football fans simply must not pay attention to the games. It is almost always about line play and who wins the battles up front. Dallas is a perfect example. On their hot streak they put unbelievable pressure on the opposing QB and thus were able to surrender very few points. And on their offensive side they protected Romo thus allowing time for success in the passing game. Yesterday it was completely turned around on them. The Vikings 4 man rush was unstoppable and swarmed Romo on every pass play. The uninformed fan will say Romo "choked, he sucks, blah blah" when in reality he had no chance yesterday. He had a very good season and improved greatly up until that game and won big games in December and January.

As much as I dislike the Jets, it was great seeing LT retreat off the field towards the locker room with his face hidden from view in his helmet and dark colored visor. Knowing the guy is the NFL’s sorest loser, my reaction was, “stay hidden in there, you miserable biotch!”

I’m feeling rather empowered after going a perfect 0-4 this weekend. Obviously whoever I pick to win is going to lose, so the fate of the four remaining teams lie in my hands. With that in mind I’m gonna officially pick the Saints and Colts while hoping for the opposite.

I have a theory about the importance of sports, and particularly football in American culture. Without getting too deep into it, the uniform is designed to make the players look like supermen and warriors. They represent their region or city and do battle against other regions and cities. It's something very old and very primal. I could write a book on it, but that's the thumbnail, and yes, people get very emotionally involved.
