A government school has no business dictating how long a kid’s hair can be, assuming it’s not so bizarre as to constitute a classroom disruption or safety hazard. Then again, a government school has no business existing in the first place. Send ALL the kids home and shut down.

Well, if you believe the schools’ mission is to achieve “self expression” among its students, then your point is spot on. Please consider the alternative mission of teaching students to achieve “self mastery” and your point is 180 degrees off. One of the largest reasons people do not submit their children to public schools is they percieve the public schools have devolved into nothing more than a “baby sitting service” that revells in self expression and self esteem. I pay tuition so that my son will achieve “self mastery” and can then lead a productive and individual life of meaning. The problem here is the father is teaching his son to be a self expressive little turd. This is unfair to the son. Let him blend in so that he (the son) can chose what he wants to become, not the father. Shoosh.
