JOLIET, Ill., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Members of an Illinois family say they can't bring themselves to eat a beef roast they bought because it has a vein of fat resembling a Valentine's heart.
Jennifer Croak of Joliet said she was shopping with her daughter Hailey, 7, at the Wal-Mart in Morris when the girl spotted the heart -- one of her favorite shapes -- in the roast's fat, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Wednesday.
"I was looking at the meat and I saw the heart and I showed my mom," Hailey said.
"She ran around the store showing everyone," her mother said. "I had to buy it."
Croak said her family is so enamored with the heart roast that they are now reluctant to cook and eat it.
"We're keeping it in the freezer -- for now," she said.
I don’t know what is worse....
That it’s UPI would take the time to write such a stupid story....
-OR-
That I actually read it and commented on it......
I really need more coffee this AM....
Truly fascinating story. Too bad the major news networks aren’t airing it nonstop.
A heart-shape in a piece of meat? WOOOOWWW!
How exactly does a story about heart-shaped fat in a rib roast get in a news story. I mean did the family call the newspaper? How would that conversation go? “I’d like to report an interesting looking rib roast”?
HA!~!! great attitude!
People are so weird - and that includes the reporter who thought this worthy of print.
PUH-FREAKIN’-LEEZE!!

I wouldn’t care if the fat on the roast was shaped like like the silhouette mudflap girl - its going to get a rub of kosher salt and other tasty spices, and get baked in the oven until its nice juicy rare 120 degrees.
Cook it, take a picture of it, and then eat it. It ain’t going to be any better than it is now!
Steinman & Meatloaf ....powerful stuff!
