Just about everyone has at least heard of the Rosetta Stone.
The Rosetta Stone was uneathered a little over 200 years ago. Before it was uneartherd NO ONE IN THE WORLD (at that time period) knew how to read Egyptian hieroglyphics (yes Kim, that’s a “picture” language, do you understand?).
One the Rosette stone was THE EXACT SAME MESSAGE written 3 times over in THREE DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. That is (1)Greek, (2) Egyptian hieroglyphics (pictures), (3) Demotic, which is also an Egyptian langauge.
Do you understand Kim??? Egyptian hieroglyphics is PICTURES. Before the Rosetta Stone was unearthed NO ONE AT THAT TIME IN THE WORLD NEW HOW TO READ THE PICTURES. But when you find a hude stone tablet with two other languages adjacent....people used their insight and discovered that all three languages where saying the exact same message to everyone so that everone (when the stone was inscribed) could read and understand the message. So........what have you learned today Kim??? You have learned that words were deduced from Egyptian pictures because there were two other languages listed on the stone that said the same thing.....so....it was deduced that the Egyptian pictures ( hieroglyphics ) said the same thing as the other languages on the stone.....so...they matched up pictures with what words they should be. WOW! Yippie! Yippie! Do you understand now Kim? I hope so because it’s not a difficult lesson and it’s one that is taught in high school (and in University if you take those sort of courses).

they are called ideograms Lucas, not pictures. If you refuse to call them idegrams call them symbols, not pictures. You sound ignorant. Demotic writing is the alphabetic evolution of Hieratic (Hieroglyphic) writing. Language remained, writing changed. It happend to turkish in the 19th century, from arabic characters to latin ones. Serbo-Croat, before the breakup of Yugoslavia, was the only language with two official alphabetic writings /cyrillic and latin.
