This is the latest greenie to find out that ships don’t turn on a dime. In the late 1980s, I had a buddy who worked in the engine room aboard the USS John Hancock (homeport Mayport, Florida). They were patrolling an area that was off-limits for an ICBM launch. They wound up chopping a Greenpeace boat in half that was attempting to disrupt the missile launch. Pulling in front of a destroyer and stopping is a real bad idea.

In dealing with large ships ie: aircraft carriers, it must take miles for a complete turn...I am an old lady and could figure that out...but perhaps you have more info than I. How long does it take to turn one of those large ships...Interested because my son was on several but never asked him..(back in the late 70’s early 80’s)
