Well, here it is, the final game of the 2009 college football season. For much of the bowl season, I've had to work, get my car fixed, and Google search any insignificant question and computer problem my grandparents call me about. (You would think with their age and guile they'd have the answers to various things readily available. You would think). So needless to say, this has kept me from my assigned college football commenting duties. For that I apologize, but tonight I will get the festivities going. So without further ado...
The BCS National Championship Game: Alabama vs. Texas (8:00 pm) From the moment this matchup was set, I've been pondering what the key to this game should be and ultimately what it will be. Could it be the Longhorn offensive line having a chance to contain the legendary Mt. Cody? How about the Tide secondary and what they'll have to do to contain Jordan Shipley? And let us not forget the mystery of chessboxing that could occur between Nick Saban and Mack Brown. But I keep hearing that the Tide are going to make mince meat of the Horns, and that kind of ignores recent history. What did we learn from the last time we saw Texas in a title game? We should have learned not to count them out, right? So keep this in mind before we coronate a team in a game like this. In my usual neutral third party kind of observational style though, that doesn't necessarily mean that the Tide aren't every bit as good as advertised. I happen to think so, for whatever that's truly worth.
Hope McCoy’s okay.
Yeah, what the hell happened to McCoy? Look like he got hit in the back.
That tells us the Auburn fans are real fans not "SEC fans". I would imagine that over the years Alabama has had the better of that rivalry and so they might not like Alabama because of that. I remember a few years ago I was driving thru Alabama the week after the AU-ALA game and the sports talk caller were still going at each other.
Oh dear, no pressure on the poor freshman QB’s shoulders. :(
Inside the one.
Can’t get in. Dang!
Alabama’s #1 Def. has finally shown up -
I heard Brent say shoulder injury. Who knows?
Hunter Lawrence is out there now. ABC went to their field cam and showed McCoy going into the locker room. Not good.
McCoy’s shoulder got whacked. Dang.
Hey Gator I dont know if you caught what Brent Musburger said at the beginning but apparently Saban reminded his team that USA had to beat Finland after beating the USSR in the 1980 Olympics. In that analogy does that make Tim Tebow a communist?
3-0 Texas!
You don’t have to be neutral tonight, Raider. You can go ahead and cheer wildly for Texas. You KNOW you want to! ;)
Walking with no motion to his right arm.
Looks like he caught a helmet right on the throwing shoulder. He’s heading to the locker room, we’ll see.
TEXAS gets the ball back...again!
Can you imagine what’s going through this Gilbert kid’s head???
Pass dropped. Frick.
Hahahahahaha! 6-0 UT
I might, but I will hope for anything that makes you happy. :)
Kid from Boerne - 6
Alabama - 0
I really didn’t see where McC got hit, and no replay seems to have either.....?
