Well, here it is, the final game of the 2009 college football season. For much of the bowl season, I've had to work, get my car fixed, and Google search any insignificant question and computer problem my grandparents call me about. (You would think with their age and guile they'd have the answers to various things readily available. You would think). So needless to say, this has kept me from my assigned college football commenting duties. For that I apologize, but tonight I will get the festivities going. So without further ado...
The BCS National Championship Game: Alabama vs. Texas (8:00 pm) From the moment this matchup was set, I've been pondering what the key to this game should be and ultimately what it will be. Could it be the Longhorn offensive line having a chance to contain the legendary Mt. Cody? How about the Tide secondary and what they'll have to do to contain Jordan Shipley? And let us not forget the mystery of chessboxing that could occur between Nick Saban and Mack Brown. But I keep hearing that the Tide are going to make mince meat of the Horns, and that kind of ignores recent history. What did we learn from the last time we saw Texas in a title game? We should have learned not to count them out, right? So keep this in mind before we coronate a team in a game like this. In my usual neutral third party kind of observational style though, that doesn't necessarily mean that the Tide aren't every bit as good as advertised. I happen to think so, for whatever that's truly worth.
Your boy did a great job!
If we aren’t careful a football game might break out any minute now.
You read my mind, lol.
He’d look a lot better if his receivers could catch the football.
Or if the referees could actually call a pass interference.
You got that right. The arrogance drips!!!!
I do want to say that BOTH bands halftime performance that they showed, were outstanding. No matter what happens in the game, the bands can be proud.
24-13, Hmmmmm, this is gonna keep me up for a bit.
Umm hmmmm, it looks like this team still has a little life in it yet. Hook ‘em!
On any given Sunday you’re gonna win or you’re gonna lose.
Go Bama, Roll Tide.
I’ve got a huge day tomorrow and after this game I will never be able to sleep tonight.
Hed look a lot better if his receivers could catch the football
Agreed. I always pull for Auburn except when they’re playing BAMA. About the only SEC teams I cannot stomach are Georgia, and any team coached by Steve Spurrier.
UT just got robbed on the PI call.
Oh come on! After the mugging they let Alabama do on the last series?
The ‘Bama boosters got to the East Big officials or are those SEC officials in disguise?
Or if they knew what pass interference was. On that last play where they DID call pass interference, the ball was OVERTHROWN, and the Alabama receiver STOPPED running, and they called the Texas guy who was still running for the ball, for running over the Alabama player.
I’m afraid that Texas can’t overcome both the problems of losing their quarterback, and this horrid officiating crew.
Oh brother. I guess those east coast referees have to root for their team.
No kidding!
No, SEC officials wear clown shoes and honk little horns on their belts to end the play.
What? In 1982? (Or 1065)
