Mike Leach Gives Interview to ESPN, Trainer refutes James
ESPN ^ | 01/01/2010 | ESPN

Texas Tech head football athletic trainer Steve Pincock said Red Raiders receiver Adam James was placed in a "sports medicine garage" and media room as "big as a two-car garage" while recovering from a concussion, and was monitored by two trainers at all times.

Pincock's account of the incident, given in a statement to representatives of former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, contradicts James' version of events that led to Leach being fired Wednesday.

James, who is the son of ESPN college football analyst Craig James, sustained a concussion on Dec. 16. He was examined the following day and told not to practice because of the injury and an elevated heart rate.

Only in Texas could we be represented by Ann Richards, W Bush, Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Jon Cornyn, Chet Edwards, Lloyd Dogget, and Sheila Jackson Lee.

I wish people outside of Texas would quit thinking we a re a conservative state, as actions speak louder than words.

Tearing into a 20 year old who got out of practice and at some point (we dont know when the video was taken) took a video to try and build sympathy for himself and get rid of his coach is inappropriate?

What is appropriate? Were James actions on the up and up? Did he complain to other coaches, to Leach, to anyone on the team before going above their heads? We dont know, because the media has found that to be inappropriate.

The problem is James is 20 but has never grown up. He still acts like the 12 year old who wants a burger for dinner instead of chicken and calls CPS.

James is most definitely a target here, and has very much earned the “tearing” he is getting.

How would you feel about this situation?

Kid has a torn hammie. He comes late to practice and is disrespectful of the coach. The coach, to teach discipline, makes the kid do puchups and then go sit in the locker room. Is that fireable?

and most high school and some pony league too. As a high school DE, I always thought d@mn was part of the QB position name:

“Son, when you see the d@mn quarterback, I want you to knock the ever living (insert swear here) out of that d@mn quarterback.”

Is there any chance in your mind that these coaches and players wrote letter because they felt it and not because Leach asked them to? Do you have any proof of your accusations.

Have you ever taken a statistics course? Correlation does not necessarily imply causation.

Cussing a 20 year old out is definitely protocol for dealing with a player you feel is dogging it and not showing his team or coaches respect.

You seem to think that because he had a concussion, you cant emotionally discipline a bad actor. I guess you fall into the camp of “dont attack Obama on his beliefs, for he is black.” In both scenarios, the physical factors prevent anyone from discussing the issues at heart.

That might be the best description of this issue that I have read.

So boosters are now involved in football coach negotiations? Wow. How much more corrupt can you get?

100% correct. As I said before, this was about getting rid of a coach who would not bend to the will of big money donors and corrupt administrators.

Roz - lots of stories floating around about Craig James, Chancellor Hance's lobbying firm, windmill farms in West Texas, etc.....

However, the juiciest rumor involves Craig James possibly running for Kay Bailey Hutchinsons potentially vacant Senate seat. Don't forget - Kent Hance (TTU's chancellor) is a former congressman and gubernatorial candidate who was defeated in the primary by W. He remains well connected. You can't cash in chits unless you earn some along the way.......

Craig James doesn’t have a chance in hell to be elected after this fiasco. And if he does, its from a bunch of entitled RINOs backing Hutchinson.

I wish people outside of Texas would quit thinking we are a conservative state, as actions speak louder than words.

This makes no sense...just that some districts are conservative and others are liberal!

SJL wouldn't get 10 votes in my district and she would win over Thomas Jefferson in her own.

No it makes perfect sense. IT shows that parts of Texas are as liberal as San Francisco.

And as far as statewide, our Senators are big time status quo protectors, support Specter, lie to voters about term limits...

Our past governors are Dem Richards, rich kid Bush, and former Dem Perry.

We may not be a liberal state, but we sure arent conservative.

And parts are as far from SF as any in the country!
