apparently, Texas Tech has to fire Leach by Thursday to save about $800,000.
Leach is getting a bad rap.
As a Longhorn fan, I fear the guy... but I like him and I respect him.
This is political correctness run amok. It wouldn’t surprise me if this happened to Mack Brown in Austin, but I wouldn’t expect it out of Lubbock.
Why would they fire a coach who has brought in so much revenue for them? Dang, he just about put them on the map.
They all have fat girlfriends.
This is really bad timing. Does anyone know when the incident happened and why they are disciplining Leach so close to the bowl?
Also, if this was not Craig James’ son, would this be a big deal?
Something’s not adding up. Supposedly Texas Tech is looking for a reason to fire Leach. Why? He’s done a very good job there. No, they are not on the same level as the Texas Longhorns program, but I’m not sure who could have done better. Secondly, what was Leach trying to accomplish with his treatment of the injured kid? I like Craig James, the kid’s father. He seems like a straight shooter. He knows about playing football and not being babied. I can’t imagine he would make a fuss unless there was some pretty poor treatment of his son. Again, things just aren’t adding up.
The AD @ Tech has not liked Leach for years. He had the same problem with Bob Knight. Apparently, our AD either wants complete control or is just a small person.
However, it does not surprise me that they would try to fire Leach.
You can’t discipline me, I’m Craig James’s little boy.
He also knows how to be on the last football program to be given the death penalty. Was he concerned with rule breaking then?
The real question is: If this were your son or my son, would it be a big deal?
If it were my son, it would.
However, I’m not sure that’s all that’s going on here. Leach, a brilliant coach, is (ahem!) as ODD as he is good at coaching. He is one downright weirdo. And the Tech AD was trying to get rid of him long before this incident.
Sometimes I wonder if Tech hires the likes of Leach and Knight just because it’s so otherwise boring in Lubbock.
Ive heard 2 stories on this.
1) Leach thought James was faking so he made him go to a dark room
2) Leach had him in a dark/cool room with a trainer and a grad student monitoring.
If either of those is true, I would not have an issue. It isnt much different than hazing in a fraternity. Plus, James was always free to leave. He didnt get put in there at gun point. Sometimes you have to fight your own battles, and not let daddy do it, or you end up a democrat.
It’s hard to believe Bobby Knight is 69.
They will fire him and I will miss his rants.
But, once calls out his players for having fat girlfriends, there in no way he can come-up with better material.
Is he really?
Btw, last I checked his boy was doing a decent job this season.
10-1 with wins over Stanford and Washington. Feeling good about the team this year.
I do think Leach thought he was faking - and lets just think about why a Coach wouldn't believe some overrated former NFL players kid - especially when Coach said publicly the Daddy acted like a Little League dad.....
So, did Leach decide since the little baby boy couldn't practice that he also couldn't go to the game with the team? Is that something that would have prompted Daddy Dearest to throw this kind of a fit and ruin a Coach's reputation?
“Sometimes you have to fight your own battles, and not let daddy do it, or you end up a democrat.”
LOL!
Thank you, Ill be here all night. Just make sure to tip your waitresses!
Tech will regret this very much. Leach did nothing. This little wussy called his mama and dada because he wasn’t worth a crap. Now leach will ram it up their A&s with great vigor and then will sue the AD, the chancellor and the entire board and Texas Tech University for defamation of character and slander for $100 PLUS MILLION!!! This is the greatest blunder in the history of college administration. These bastard better duck and cover because this lawyer coach is one mean little sob and he will take no live prisoners.
