Less than 24 hours after he resigned, Florida coach Urban Meyer is instead taking an indefinite leave of absence and opening the door for a return to the Gators.
As reported by Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com, a person familiar with decision said Sunday that Meyer had changed his mind. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no announcement had been made by the school.
Offensive coordinator Steve Addazio will run the team during Meyer's absence, a second person close to the situation told the AP.
Meyer is to speak at a news conference in New Orleans on Sunday afternoon. On Saturday night, Meyer said he was stepping down after five seasons as Gators coach because of health concerns.
The University of Florida student newspaper, the New York Times and ESPN.com first reported Meyer's change of plans.

the guy should make up his frickin mind! Cue “should I stay or should I go” by the Clash...
Maybe he is a distant cousin of Bret Favre.
Damage control, they’re afraid too many recruits will decommit
I give Brett a pass because he didn’t use the, “MY HEALTH AND FAMILY ARE MORE IMPOPTANT” line. Unless I missed Brett saying that and/or Urban was misquoted.
Were the AD or school president at all classy, they would tell Meyer to piss off! But the odds are they’ll just announce their joy at his change of heart!
There must be something in the water in Gainesville. Remember Billy Donovan’s acceptance of the Orlando Magic head coaching job.
Since, thankfully, Meyer has said he does not actually have any diagnosed heart problem (but symptoms which sound like anxiety or panic attack symptoms), he might be rethinking this thing and I hope he decides to stay. And, I’m sticking my explanation I gave last night and received some flaming for it. But,
I think Urban looked out on the field at the SEC Championship game and saw the future.
Trying to replace superstare Tim Tebow would give any mortal panic attacks.

The main thing that can be concluded from the reporting on this story is that no one knows just what the true story is, and it’ll be more days or weeks before it is known.
That link claims someone said he had an actual heart attack during the season, but kept on coaching? Other stories have said he has no heart damage, and only had chest pains and tightness which can be caused by various conditions.
Yep, Tebow's power running from the QB position gave them a dimension few teams have ever had, and it was very difficult to stop their offense because of Tebow. Next year will be an adjustment year. They'll probably be closer to the Spurrier style Florida offense with far more passing in the game plan.
I hope Meyer stays. He's unlikely to find a better situation and he clearly doesn't really want to leave major college coaching yet.
Negotiations are progressing nicely....
I’m at work right now, but since I’m the only person here, I’m getting on the interwebs and pinging the list.
Drama Queen?
Whatever, Urbie.
No kidding you took some flaming last night! :)
Whatever. You weren’t the only one on the thread who expressed skepticism, and you CERTAINLY weren’t the only one thinking it (paging TXBlair), but you took the brunt of the flaming. Sorry!
I wish U.M. the best, but is anybody surprised at today’s announcement???
I hope he stays. Even though my dawgs have a near impossible task in beating Florida, it would be more enjoyable to beat them at full strength.
You beat me to it....that’s exactly what my thoughts were. It was in the paper this morning (here in Mobile) that a local recruit here who was supposed to start school next month is now rethinking his commitment to FL and that two 5 star FL high schoolers have indicated they’re rethinking going to FL also....
