The local San Diego news (since we didn’t have the Denver game followed by 60 Minutes like most others) did a whole scenario of all the possibilities and it seemed to state that Ravens are in if they win next week, whereas Denver not only needs to win, but needs significant help from others, as well.
All I know is the AFC wild card picture is a freaking Fluster cluck!!!
It would have been so much clearer if Derrick Mason would have held on to that perfectly thrown Joe Flacco pass......
I didn’t know the Gints are still alive. That won’t be the case in a couple of hours though.....
I assume the Viqueens have clinched the NFC North, even if they were to lose out....
Understatement of the day.
Touchdown Cowboys! 14-0!
Never can tell...
Stayin' alive....stayin' alive...stayin' alive...
Barely, but alive is alive!
I think I found the easiest way to do the AFC wildcard
1. NYJ
2. BALT
3. DEN
4. HOUS
5. PITT
6. JAX at 8-8
7. DEN at 8-8
8. MIAMI at 8-8
the top 2, get the wildcard. If a team loses, cross them off and move every one else up one. The only exception: if HOUS loses, PITT jumps all the way to 3, ahead of DEN. (PITT beat DEN head-to-head.)
If all 6 top teams lose, it’s DEN and MIAMI. MIAMI plays PITT, so they both cannot lose.
From where we are now it will likely be the Jets and Broncos.
are people expecting BALT to lose? If NYJ & BALT win, they are in.
I think their luck will run out.
This could be the final draft on the easiest way to do the AFC wildcard. After next week, teams finish 9-7:
1. NYJ ...... 9-7 .... conference 7-5 (has S.O.V. over BALT & DEN)
2. BALT ...... 9-7 ................... 7-5 (beat DEN head-to-head)
3. DEN ...... 9-7 .................. 7-5
4. HOUS ...... 9-7 .................. 6-6 (won “common games” over PITT)
5. PITT ...... 9-7 ................. 6-6 (beat DEN head-to-head)
6. JAX at 8-8 .... conference 7-5
7. DEN at 8-8 .... conference 6-6 (has S.O.V. over MIA)
8. MIAMI at 8-8 .... conference 6-6 (would have tiebreaker over all 8-8 teams, except: (6.) JAX & (7.) DEN)
the TOP TWO get the Wildcard. If a team loses, cross them OFF and move every one BELOW up one. The only exception: if HOUS loses, PITT jumps all the way to number 3, ahead of DEN. (PITT beat DEN head-to-head.)
If all 6 top teams lose, its DEN and MIAMI. MIAMI plays PITT, so they both cannot lose.
(... so here’s examples: HOUS must win and have 2 teams above them lose to move from 4. to 2. and get a Wildcard. JAX must win and have 4 teams above them lose to move from 6. to 2.)
Thanks Pete, that really does clear the fluster cluck right up. And to think there is a chance Miami can jump from 8th into a wildcard slot shows how crazy it is right now.
One thing is for sure. Baltimore and the Jets conrol their WC destiny. They both win, everything else is noise. And of course with CINCY/NYJ being the NBC game Sunday night we won’t know till then.
And the teams are now all set in the NFC. Of course none have clinched a seeding yet. So there’s still much to settle yet.....
Dallas makes the playoffs!

Whew! I’m ready for it.
It looks like Dallas may play Philadelphia two weeks in a row depending what happens next week. Arizona plays Green Bay. If Green Bay and Dallas win, Philly will play at Dallas on Wild card weekend. If Philly beats Dallas, assuming Miinnesota beats Chicago and NY, Dallas will play at Philly.
Manning's saying all the right things, but he will NEVER forgive Caldwell for pulling him in that game. If the Colts win the SB, twenty years from now people will still be talking about how they threw away the chance at perfection.
It’s always dumb to call off the dogs. Big mistake.
I think the Ravens got hosed.
DEN and PITTS got hosed.
There may be 6 teams where back to back meetings take place...
CIN/NYJ
ARZ/GB
DAL/PHI
in all 3 games the teams who have locked up a playoff spot can end up with a higher seed. And of course the winner in Dallas wins the East and hosts a WC game.
Coaches will have some interesting decisions to make for sure.....
I’ve never seen a team get screwed by the officials as consistently as the Ravens.
