Anyone have any info on Home Security Cameras? I'm looking specifically for a Day\Night camera with excellent long range nightime capabilities - 60 feet and beyond. I've read numerous reviews on various cameras but I was wondering if anyone had any specific favorites they would recommend. Thanks !
B & H Camera in New York has these in their catalog.
There are reviews from buyers included on line.
Axis makes good stuff and you can control them from an iPhone (and other mobile phones).
I started looking into outdoor cams a couple of years ago. There are so many options, it is mind boggling. Make sure you get some with at least 500 tv lines, 1/3” sensor, and plenty of IR led’s. I finally settled on products from Q-SEE and have been very happy with them.
I saw an edition of a news magazine show where they showed crooks using a monitor to see the inside of someone’s home. The security camera was set up on a wireless network with no firewall so anyone with the right receiver hooked up to their laptop could sit in their car down the street and watch whatever was on the security camera so they were able to observe when nobody was home before they broke in.
So, if you get a camera for your security system, either use one that hardwired or a wireless with a firewall.
Inexpensive and fairly easy to use, too.
