Christmas food recipes: Post your best ones!
An American In Turkiye

OK, I know this thread is a bit late, as Christmas is almost over. But, I thought I would start a thread to gather FReeper recipes for some great food recipes.

I'll go first. My grandma used to make this, and it is 100% awesome:

Grandma Goering's Potato Casserole

1 Large bag frozen hash browns
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1 chopped onion
1 small carton of sour cream
garlic salt & pepper to taste

Mix altogether; put into a (greased with butter) 9X13 pan. Sprinkle with Paprika and Parsley. Place small pieces of butter on the top (about 1/2 a cube)). Sprinkle grated chedder cheese over the top. Cover with tin foil and bake at 325 for 1 1/2 hours.

I like to add ham or sausage to this as well. This is a fabulous recipe, and I hope you try it.

Thanks for sharing your recipes, and Merry Christmas to all!

My S-I-L made a delicious sweet potato casserole similar to this but hers alternated pecans and small marshmellows on top in diagonal lines.

Buying it ready-made is far more expensive, and I’m a cheap bugger. I’m also a control freak, since I like to vary the ingredients to taste each time I pour.

You are quite correct in that Coors has the “cheap beer” thing down cold! ( BG ).

Oh - that sounds like a good option too. When I started making this I was asked about the marshmellows but they just weren’t in this recipe so have never used them....but am sure that would be good.
