They would need some unknown kind of metabolism that is more efficient than what we currently understand. Seems like I read somewhere that pronghorn antelope have something unusual going on in their metabolism. This enables them run at top speed for much longer than what they should be capable of.

The answer is quite simple ~ I'm surprised the professor didn't see it immediately.

ANGELS do not eat.

They have no need for a large intestine, a small intestine, an appendix, most of the other organs below the diaphragm, or, when you get right down to it, the liver!

This gives them considerable room for the installation of rockets ~ and since they've had billions of years (since the creation of the multiverse) to work things out, those rockets are remarkably efficient, compact, and virtually invisible to human beings.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

It’s not possible for a bumblebee to fly either. scientists and engineers can be pretty stupid at times

I thought everyone knew that angels don’t have wings. They have anti-friction shields.

Yeah, but was he able to determine whether they dance, and if so, how many could dance on the head of a pin?

“Scientists” like this one, who want to comment on religious matters, would sound less foolish if they consulted a competent theologian first.

I wonder if he got a sizable government grant to come up with this.

The scientist is a dunderhead. Just an attempt to denigrate the religious as simpletons and uncritical clods.

Angels are understood to be pure spirit. They have no physical body. The physical laws that afflict us—including gravity—do not apply to them. We substitute a painted or sculpted form to assist us in thinking about an invisible (most of the time) being. As C. S. Lewis remarked on this very subject, Angels have a human form denote rationality, and wings to imply celerity of thought. (He wrote a book, “The Abolition of Man,” that discusses, in part, just these sort of bumbling attempts to reduce the exalted to some advertising formula and rob us of culture and true emotional expression.

"For sure, fairies don't fly."

They do, however float above their loafers...
