I left the Seattle area in 2002 after growing up there and I thought it was pretty bad then. Places like South Seattle has always had it’s problems, but we started noticing more and more crimes happening in places where it was previously uncommon. I had a feeling at the time that things were getting worse. Shootings nearby, muggings, an increase in drug activity, petty crimes, etc..

I remember my boyfriend’s car getting broken into in our so-called “secure” parking garage. We spoke to a freindly, familiar officer about it and mentioned our plans to move to another state. He told us it was a great idea. LOL.

The scenery here is gorgeous, there is lots to do and if you don’t mind rain for months the climate is nice, but the hard-Left ‘culture’, a steady coarsening of the ‘friendliness quotient’, the exploding population, high costs and the increasing crime levels have definitely made the place far less hospitable than it used to be.
