Elin Wants Full Custody, Half of Everything Tiger Has
AOL News ^ | 12/21/2009

First, some good news for Tiger Woods: no new mistresses came forward this weekend so the list unofficially stands at 14. And John Daly has even offered his counsel.

Now the bad news: Tiger's mother is apparently "angry and disappointed" by her son's behavior. And rumors persist that Elin Nordegren will seek to divorce Woods, probably sometime after the holidays.

Via the New York Post:

"She wants 100 percent divorce, 100 percent custody of the children, and half of everything. And she won't be changing her mind," a confidant of the Swedish stunner told the British tab[loid News of the World]. The hard-line stance stems from Woods' refusal to seek help for his twin addictions to sex and pills, the paper reported. ...

"Tiger was supposed to be working on getting better, and he hasn't done anything," said Nordegren's pal. "Elin is livid that he hasn't checked into rehab and gotten himself off his drugs. He's acting like a big baby."

The Post puts "half of everything" at $300 million. As for Woods, who hasn't been seen in public since halftime of the Cal-Stanford game on Nov. 21, People.com's Linda Marx hears things (via SbB):

Woods and a group of buddies, including some golfers, have left North Palm Beach, according to a source who has seen the golfer's 155-ft. luxury yacht. "Tiger's boat Privacy has been docked at Old Port Cove in North Palm Beach for more than a week," the source tells People. "On Saturday morning, after stocking up on provisions from Costco on Northlake Blvd., the boat left town."

Another source tells People that Woods, 33, is going to cruise in the Bahamas for a few days after hanging around the Palm Beach Gardens area this past week.

Whatever happens to Tiger off the course, the consensus seems to be that he should get back to playing golf as soon as possible, take the media glare off his personal problems, and focus on winning tournaments. Daly was right: "... As soon as he comes out he's probably going to win, and then everything's forgotten..."

“he should have known that no pre-nup would stand ....”

I wonder what you base that statement on. He entered into a legally binding agreement which is enforceable in many states. There is no reason he should have known it would not stand.

When it comes to marriages and puppies a lot of people on Free Republic become immediate liberals.

It’s their marriage. It’s their agreement. I don’t know either one of them. I do not wish to do “social justice” for either one of them. I also don’t need to look over the fence and gawk at their marriage.

I did not suggest that Elin was evil for seeking a divorce, nor have I said anything about settlement terms.

I merely pointed out that she will not disappear into the great north of Sweden for 20 years until her kids are grown as you suggest. She was a model, and a nanny for another wealthy professional athlete and is a very attractive woman. I’d be willing to put money that she ends up married to another high profile individual or two.

Tiger was out whoring for many years before he got married. Elin made the fatal mistake that many women make thinking she could change the man she married. Tiger is who he is. A philanderer. And for what it’s worth, If Tiger thought that he was going to change for this woman he was fooling himself. From the accounts of their “courtship” it sounds more like another conquest of something that was out of reach. Here’s this beautiful woman who is saying “no” to him and his ego wasn’t having any of it.

We’re surprised that it ended badly? I’m not. And I speak from experience in finally getting that beautiful woman I just had to have. And about two years later I couldn’t stand to be in the same room with her. Valuable (and costly) lesson I never forgot. That former ended up being a trophy wife for some pilot (lasted about 5 years), and some lawyer (lasted about 3), and someone else (or so I have heard).

But your situation is not Tiger’s. These threads seem to bring out a lot of men who are still angry at ex’s.

Tiger did the crime, now he’s got to do the time. He married the woman. He made babies with her. He cheated and cheated. He cheated on his children as well.

What Elin does after the divorce is no concern of mine. I hope she does find another rich guy. I’m sure Tiger will find another good-looking chick.

Judging by the number of women reportedly involved no one women kept him happy, at least as far as the sex went. Not so clear about the other aspects of the marriage. Heard rumor of a “sex addition” as well as a pain killer addiction, which can make sense if he has a personality type that is prone to the “addict mentality”.

They made a family together and he just publicly destroyed the current and future lives of his wife and children.

Now is simply the accounting part, the untangling of assets. The marital assets should be split and a parenting plan arranged. So sad, the children are quite young.

There are those who remain angry at their ex’s forever. It is easy to bash the former spouse and complain about what it cost, etc. In the end, what’s the point of complaining. It’s not like it is going to go back and change the outcome.

The serenity prayer says it all:

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
