Teabagers

Posted on 12/18/2009 1:34:29 PM PST by streetsmart

A vanity post I know. But my son a fellow freeper says Obama never refered to us Tea Party folks as Teabagers. I remember him doing so. Can anyone provide a source. Or am I wrong.

I can assure you.

Obammie never used the tern “teabager”.

I’d suggest you slow down. Use the search function for teabagger.

According to Representative Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, who supports the health care bill, the president asked, “Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care?

Was he quoted correctly…???

Teabaggers.

Yes, I remember hearing him use that disgusting term jokingly on some interview. I also remember him saying he couldn’t take anyone from the town of “Wasilly” seriously.

That one’s gonna come back and bite him on the butt.

He’s said “tea bag waving people” and then reportedly used the term “teabag people”

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/04/29/obama-tea-baggers-games/

OBAMA: So, you know, when you see, you know, those of you who are watching certain news channels, on which I’m not very popular, and you see folks waving tea bags around, let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term how we’re going to stabilize social security. [...] [L]et’s not play games and pretend that the reason is because of the Recovery Act because that’s just a fraction of the overall problem that we’ve got.

prescriptions.blogs.nytimes.co… — The president, according to one Congressman, told Democrats that a failed health care bill would “encourage extremists.” ““Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care?”

…the source for the quote from Obama — Dem Rep. Earl Blumenauer — is now walking back the claim.

He’s http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/president-obama/witness-walks-back-claim-obama-called-foes-teabag-and-extremists/

But the source for the quote from Obama — Dem Rep. Earl Blumenauer — is now walking back the claim. His spokesperson tells me he had only meant to paraphrase the president and wasn’t quoting him directly.

Blumenauer told The New York Times that the President asked: “Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care?” He added that Obama said a loss “will encourage the extremists.”

So is Blumenauer going to dive under the bus and apologize for his OWN use of the T word?

Let your son know that in this upside-down, PC world in which we live, it matters not whether Obama used the term, "teabaggers".

What matters is that he certainly "thought" it!

“the president asked, “Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care? All it will do is confuse and dispirit” Democratic voters “and it will encourage the extremists.”

This is what he said, he didn’t use “teabagger”, but said “the teabag, anti-government people”

I remember 0 saying the term once in his typical off the cuff, nonchalant way. It was shown briefly on Fox, and he said “teabag waving” in a speech. Finding a clip now may be unlikely.
