Now 45 years old and revamped for 2010 with new styling and more powerful V-8, the "pony car" that debuted in 1964 is strikingly muscular, more energetic than before and thoroughly cool for a modern buyer.
You dont even have to pretend to be Steve McQueen, the lead actor in the 1968 film "Bullitt" who famously drove a Mustang in one of Hollywoods best chase scenes, to enjoy the new Mustangs unique persona.

2003-2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra aka: “Terminator”
“Nice car for going fast in a straight line. Don’t try cornering in this vehicle.”
I didn’t know Jeremy Clarkson was a Freeper?
Competition Orange?
If so, those are quite rare. Nice.
ford calls it ‘grabber orange’
and yes.. It’s not your everyday color. That’s for sure!
My dad had a ‘67 Candy apple red fast back....ohhhhh yeahhhh.
The retros are really neat but the original is still a fabulous looking car. There is a restored 1964 1/2 Mustang which drives around town when the weather is nice and I can’t take my eyes off it when I see it. After all these years, the original ponycar look has aged very well.
whatever...
I autoX mine every chance I get
Love watching the jaws drop on the pretentious bimmer owners when I best their times...
Mustangs are not all about going straight.

That looks an awful lot like the 1967.
We have a 1964 1/2 convertible that my husband is restoring. It’s actually the second one. The first one was when we were young with a houseful of little kids, and really couldn’t afford it, so he sold it.
But he’s having a ton of fun with this one. Our grown kids and friends love to borrow it and drive it around when the weather is good.
I’m pretty sure the Mustang was built on the Pinto platform for a while.
Don’t know the answer to your question though.
I have one too and love it!
That picture is the automotive equivalent of Helen Thomas.
Love my red mustang as well!
Is yours a Cobra too?
I'd buy one...
The hatchbacks made nice drag cars.
The “Mustang 2” was a slightly restyled Pinto with the really crappy 2.3l 4 or the 2.8l v6 (the 302 came later and made about 130 hp) , many people within Ford wanted to do the 1974 mustang on the Maverick platform , very similar in dimensions to a 68ish Mustang, and a low cost car..
I’m a Chevy man, but Mustangs are cool
Hey, I don't pretend to be an expert but at least there is a debate on this topic. I think Ford, if possible, should offer it as an option.
But kudos for smoking the euro-trash Bimmers.
