The Canadian doctor who performed a controversial medical procedure on Tiger Woods is under criminal investigation for drug violations on both sides of the border, bringing scrutiny to his colleagues, including one who worked closely with BALCO athletes and Yankee superstar Alex Rodriguez.
Dr. Tony Galea was arrested in October and his Toronto clinic was raided by Canadian authorities after his assistant was detained at the U.S.-Canadian border and reportedly found to be in possession of illegal drugs, including human growth hormone (hGH) and Actovegin - a drug extracted from calf's blood that has been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Galea flew to Woods' Windermere, Fla., home at the request of his agents to treat the golfer earlier this year with his platelet-rich plasma injection therapy, also known as "blood spinning."
Galea has attracted a mystique in sports medicine circles for his advocacy of the process, which involves spinning blood in a centrifuge and reinjecting it into injured joints in the hope of accelerating healing.
A Royal Canadian Mounted Police spokesman said charges against Galea are expected to be filed on Friday in a Toronto courtroom, and while an attorney for Galea told the Daily News that his client is innocent of any wrongdoing, U.S. anti-doping officials said that Galea is "definitely on our radar." U.S. law enforcement officials are also believed to be investigating Galea.
Galea and Mark Lindsay, a Canadian chiropractor who treated Woods and managed Rodriguez's rehabilitation this summer from hip surgery, are principals at a Toronto clinic called Affinity Health.
Lindsay also treated ex-Yankee pitcher Chien-Ming Wang, who was recovering from a hip injury, this year. He has worked with former NFL star Bill Romanowski, and sprinters Tim Montgomery and Marion Jones, who all testified in front of the grand jury that investigated the Bay......

Yang spanked ol' Roids good.
I lost faith in Jack when he came out defending Tiger. Arnie has not done it yet. I hope they do not. Tiger is a juicer. If Jack and Arnie defend him - they will disgrace the memory of golfers like Hogan, Bobby Jones, Byron Nelson and Sam Snead.
Tiger has disgraced golf. If he had ANY association with a “doctor” who knows Romanowski and is getting treatments at home - he is a juicer. I bet Elin knows. I bet he is terrified she will talk about it.
The PGA are pathetic.
Follow the trail............
'Obviously you are not a golfer'
The only drugs Tiger Woods is using are whatever he's taking to deal with the pain in his knee. Although steroids might help a person swing a driver hard enough to hit a ball 400 yards, they won't help you sink a 40 foot putt or help you with any other golf shots required to play 18 holes and break 100 much less break 70 consistently.
Clomid. Functions as an estrogen blocker in men, and also elevates production of follicle stimulating hormone and leutenizing hormone, which leads to an increase in natural testosterone production. It's sometimes prescribed to men with fertility problems as well.
Excellent news.
Thanks for clearing that up for us.
I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we're all mighty grateful for that reassuring statement.......
Oh please. Woods is a bum, no question. But now the MSM is doing a “Palin” job of attack on him. Next we’ll be told that Wood’s father’s second cousin’s nurse’s boyfriend knew a guy who was related to a guy who knew Al Capone’s barber—proving that Woods received haircuts from a criminal enterprise.
Roid rage is closer to an urban legend than the truth.
Tiger Woods walks into a bar with a bag of steroids in one hand, and a pornstar’s phone number in the other...
You assume that Tiger was using to help with his golf game. Maybe he wanted to enhance his performance in other areas.
Glad I could help. And thank you for speaking for EVERYONE. It cuts down on the number of thoughtful responses I'll get.
The PGA is the biggest whore in this whole story, they protect their meal ticket. Probably people in the PGA and in the tournament structure know about the roids, or at least have talked about the real possibility, but everyone is afraid to act on it. Too much profit in Tiger for the PGA to upset their own apple cart.
You left out Walter Hagen who wore out two marriages with his drinking and sleeping around. He did however help more than anyone else to create the PGA.
You're welcome.
Definitive, reliable information on Tiger's pharmacological intake is hard to come by. It's great to hear from someone who has it at his fingertips.
If you ever do learn exactly what drug it is that helps with all aspects of golf, let me know. Everyone I know at my golf club wants as much of it as you can get your hands on.
The STEROIDS MADE ME DO IT!!! OMG!! THIS is going to be their excuse!!
ASTERISK Woods????
