When thinking about the mass extermination camps of a holocaust think..
The key to freedom is to be able to have the ability to defend yourself &, if you dont have the tools to do that, then youre going to be at the mercy of whomever wants to put you away.
Guns are deeply rooted within Swiss culture - but the gun crime rate is so low that statistics are not even kept. The country has a population of six million, but there are estimated to be at least two million publicly-owned firearms, including about 600,000 automatic rifles and 500,000 pistols.
This is in a very large part due to Switzerland's unique system of national defense, developed over the centuries. Instead of a standing, full-time army, the country requires every man to undergo some form of military training for a few days or weeks a year throughout most of their lives.
Between the ages of 21 and 32 men serve as frontline troops. They are given an M-57 assault rifle and 24 rounds of ammunition which they are required to keep at home. Once discharged, men serve in the Swiss equivalent of the US National Guard, but still have to train occasionally and are given bolt rifles. Women do not have to own firearms, but are encouraged to.

It’s called a SIG-Sauer assault rifle in every home.
It's probably more than that now, with the value of the dollar and all.
It’s amazing the paradise you can have without section 8 housing and it’s tenants.
"What will you do if I send a million men marching across your border?"
Swiss General: "We will all fire twice and then go home."
For a really interesting read pick up the book "Total Resistance" by Major H. Van Dach.
...and I would venture an economy that keeps most of its people working.
What? No spinners? And no crime?
I am in a quandary here. I cannot compute this departure from all that I have known to be true.
Common heritage, shared values. Homogeneity is their strength, unless they allow uncontrolled immigration to bring in too many who do not share their values.
There was a recent news item proclaming NORWAY as the best place in the world to live (the liberal media wanted to tout their socialized medicine...Now Switzerland is the safest place in the world.
There is something these reports ALWAYS ignore:
These countries spend SO MUCH on welfare, that they have little left for national defense...If Russia (or anyone) decides they WANT these countries, they can just chew them up....you CANNOT have massive welfare AND have a strong defense.
homogeneous
What, no diversity?
Or are we talking homophobia?
Only 24 rounds? I guess they really are good shots.
I have been to Zurich a few times. It reminded me of 1970’s New York upper west side.
That probably has more to do with a low crime rate than an assult rifle in every closet.
Their culture has more respect for itself and others than most other cultures do.
Because everyone in Switzerland has a assault rifle required by law.
The crime rate has nothing to do with guns and everything to do with the people - their culture and values.
As defined earlier - No Spinner Rims.
I rambled around Switzerland in 96 and stayed with a number of people I met along the way. It’s not a utopia. They have problems with drugs just like the rest of Europe. Relative to the rest of Europe its a cleaner place and probably more affluent. The scenery if you like mountains is wonderful. Like a lot of western Europe the prices for things are sky high. My general rule was about double the cost of things here in North America.
You are so right. It's sad though.
Switzerland hast no Krips and Bluts. Or MS Dreizehn.
