You've Got Mail, But the Mailman Hid It By YVONNE NAVA Updated 1:53 PM EST, Mon, Dec 14, 2009
If your mother-in-law's mail goes through the Waterbury or Wallingford post offices, she might not have received the birthday card you sent in time.
Apparently managers at the post office have been hiding mail, Ray Arcovio, president of the Waterbury area postal workers union, told the Waterbury Republican-American. And he wants to sincerely apologize.
Workers have been stuffing mail into closets and unused rooms at mail facilities in Waterbury and Wallingford because they dont know how to keep up with such a high volume of mail, he told the newspaper.
"They're just pushing it aside for the next day," Arcovio told the paper. "We've had issues with them hiding the mail.
In an effort to cut back on costs, the postal service now transfers mail processing from Waterbury to Wallingford.
Arcovio says the problem is being handled.
"We have dealt with it and got the assurance it wouldn't happen again," he told the Republican American. "The employees who see it and are aware of it are fearful to speak out about it for fear of repercussions."

LOL!!!!!
Mom was an old cranky Pollack.
Trust me, she was the last in the neighborhood to give up her “cookies” except to dad.
Our local Post Office is a pit.
However, our delivery lady (rural, contract) is the tops. She works terribly hard, makes sure to wait long enough for us to get to the door and hands stuff to us personally.
Once she even looked up my number and called me when I had forgotten to sign a customs form properly so I could run down to the annex (from where they ship) so I could sign it and get it out the same day.
When she comes to our home with a big delivery (if I know it is coming) I go to the curb to help her get it out of her jeep.
I make sure she gets a nice Christmas card and gift card. She went to the trouble of dropping a hand-written thank you note in our box the next day.
I tell you, when you get a shining star, it really makes a difference! (heck, Marlene may even read FR!)
You can fit 2 bags of shot in a flat rate box. They hate that.
Never understood that - they’re already public workers, why do they need a yoon-yun?
Which one?
National Rural Letter Carriers Association
National Association of Letter Carriers
National Postal Mail Handlers Union
United Postal Workers Union
Not surprising. Based on your posts I’ve read over the past several years, it’s clear you had a solid upbringing in morals and ethics.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
So it can collect hundreds of millions in dues and donate to Democrats.
I called the postmaster EVERY DAY for 3 months.
EVERY DAY.
They began to remember my name when I called. I just wanted to know what happened and if any of my mail had been found. I knew nothing would ever be done about it, I just wanted to exact a little payback.
I never heard anything from them.
To extort more permanent bennies and cash-ola.
And you my FRiend!!!!!!
All of the above.
If your mother-in-law goes to the Waterbury or Wallingford Federal Health Care Facility and Mail Processing Center, she might not have have been heard from recentlyApparently managers at the FHCF&MPC have been hiding patients, Ray Arcovio, president of the Waterbury area Federal Health Care union, told the Waterbury Republican-American. My mail gal was a sweetheart, always putting a puppy treat for my lab in my box with the mail. If we were out walking as she drove by, she would toss a treat for my lab to catch. Well the PO passed a new “law” making it illegal for workers to put ANYTHING in your mailbox except mail. She is no longer allowed to deliver puppy treats along with the mail. Pretty shrewd huh? Now THAT’S our bureaucracy in action!
The ATC employees went on strike. A strike that was illegal - ATC employees CAN NEVER go on strike.
Reagan gave ‘em 72 hours to stop their illegal strike. RWR what a guy!
These postal workers are likely not prohibited from striking....
America's first African-Indonesian president will resolve all problems with the USPS. They'll have their hands full with mail delivery and handling your health care.
Yes they are prohibited from strikes.
I don't reload my shotgun shells. I've hardly fired more than 10 rounds in the last 10 years. By comparison, I was reloading almost 1000 rds per week of 38SPL while living in San Diego. The annual membership at a good quality indoor range afforded more opportunity to shoot than my outdoor range in Idaho. It's all about free time and weather. The latter isn't an issue for an indoor range. The fortunate intersection for the outdoor range is rare.
