It is refreshing that we don’t have fans of ATL, TENN, & HOUS on here, insisting they are still alive for the playoffs.
Next Sunday, there is only one game involving 2 playoff contending teams. SD vs. CIN. So the excitement will have to be provided by an upset. Packers and Dolphins are both underdogs!
At Pittsburgh -1.5 Green Bay
At Tennessee -3 Miami
Woah, they’re either smoking something or they know something I don’t. From what I’m hearing, Polamalu might be back for the playoffs if the Steelers make it, but more likely he’s done for the season.
Without Polamalu, the Steelers don’t have a chance. They’re 2-6 without him, and rather than get used to his absence, their defense has actually gotten worse every week he’s been gone. Packers by at least a touchdown.
Pack by a TD??
Absolutely yes!! Heinz Field is not the great equalizer it was last year....
And it took Arizona long enough to start a decent drive tonight!!!
I am glad that I left the 49’ers off the list of teams that I’ve laughed out of the playoff race.
If they win out, at 9-7, their 8-4 conference record would give them the tiebreakers and the second wildcard spot over DAL & NYG.
They sure do look like a playoff team tonight.
I still can’t see the logic behind Matt Millen as an analyst. It’s not so much that what he’s saying is wrong. I just can’t see and hear him without thinking that this is the mind that led the Lions to a 24-72 record. They were the absolute worst team in the NFL on his watch. Can you really credit any insight he might have into football?
I mean, when he was talking about the Cards’ seven turnovers and said “Sometimes you’re going to have games like this,” the only thing I could think is, “Yeah, I’m sure you’ve said that a lot over the years.”
And good for Mike Singletary! I was never a Bears fan, but he was still one of my heroes growing up.
"Millen was a linebacker for the Oakland Raiders, the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Redskins. In Millen's 12-year NFL playing career, he played on four Super Bowl-winning teams. Millen won a Super Bowl ring with each of the three teams for which he played"
I like him.
Not all Penn State grads only deliver pizzas.
Well, campers... it was not my 'Boys finest hour, was it?.
And you lost my panties... Here! And to big, of all people!
Second Place is not bad, considering, but then again-- Gadzooks! It is also... last place!!!!
Yes, the power supply went out on my CPU. A computer friend of mine in Dallas replaced it yesterday and it seems to be working fine.
Watched Inglourious Basterds last night. My Dallas buddy got it from Nextflix, watched it and said it sucks. Boy, he said a mouthful.
When Sam Peckinpah's bloody, high-body-count mythologized Old West homage, The Wild Bunch, came out in 1969, never before had violence been so graphically offered up on the silver screen. The audience saw bullets realistically hit a human body and come blasting out the other side with a bloody splash! Sam's “Bunch” were cold blooded killers, cruel and ruthless, but they had a code of honoring their word and doing what they considered ‘right.’
I enjoyed The Wild Bunch and have seen it in all the different versions several times over the years. For most of Hollywood's versions of violence, it was almost kids playing ‘Bang-Bang, you got me!’ fall down style. Peckinpah showed that people don't kill people, smashing bullets do in bloody eruptions.
Around 30 years later, Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan gave the viewing public about as close a look at combat as one can get without actually doing it.
Quentin Tarantino’s Bastards takes violence into a ‘Bang-Bang, you got me!’ fall down style on balls-to-the-wall steroids, but he creates a cast of antiheroes that are so damn bloody sadistic, the Nazis come off almost better in comparison.
While those in command of Hollywood these days follow the liberal bent that takes up arms in defense of our military’s actions against Islamic terrorists and even the detainment of these murderous bastards, they praise a director like Tarantino whose has his minions take uninhibited delight in outright torture and sadism.
Throw in scene after scene after scene that seem to run on and on and on and on forever and ever, yes, Virgina, you've got a film that sucks to high heaven. Yet the damn thing made $120 million at the box office and still counting.
And that scares the crap out of me... with the ultraAnti-American Military Avatar awaiting in the wings!
Okay, enough film critic soapbox, here are my NFL picks for this week:
Indianapolis over Jacksonville
Dallas stops N’awleans winning way... Hey, I gotta dance with one who brung me!
New England beat Buffalo much to big’s delight
Arizona bounces back with a win over Detroit
Tennessee gets back to winning over Miami
Cleveland smears their Brown Stain all over Kansas City
Houston wins at St. Louis and Allegra keeps on smiling
The Jets bomb Atlanta into submission
As much as I'd like to see San Francisco nuke Philadelphia, sigh, the Iggles will win
Chicago won make the Cutler at Baltimore, Da Dirty Byrds win
Cincinnati will lose at San Diego
Oakland also lose at Denver
More grins at big’s bachelor pad as his Pack dumps on the Stoolers
Tampa Bay drop another at Seattle
The Viqueens beat the Panthers like a a bastard out of Carolina
Allegra, you owe me a big one as I am picking your Deadskins to knock off the Jints!
Now, how... do you want your burger cooked?
I hope you're right, because I head to DC a couple of days later and would love to have my family up there in good spirits about football. They certainly have not been most of the season. ;-)
I’ll take the fillies over the jagwurst on Thursday also.
The rest of the picks will follow. My computer is not done running its analysis yet.
Near the end of the game, old Jerry was holding his head in his hands...do you think Phillips will be the coach next year?
Quentin Tarantino is worthless; I watched his first one and none since.
OK, you Inglorius Bastiges, here are your picks for week 15!!!
COLTS over JAGS—Although I would love to see the major upset that keeps the Jags in the playoff race, this effectively ends their season. They will rue losing to a team in the Fish last week that had less talent than they did.
SAINTS over DA BOYZ-—Someone please tell Wade that his team sucks, PLEASE????
DAS RAVENS over BEARLIES-—Did I mention before that Matt Forte is the most underachieving running back in the NFL this year???
PATS over BILLIES-—So they finally broke the losing streak. Now does Randy Moss catch a crapload of passes and shuts everyone up for a week anyway???
BUZZARDS over LIONS-—We assume this will be a blowout, but after Monday Night, I’m not so sure.....
I can’t believe I’m actually doing this,........we’ll get back to that game later!!!
J-E-T-S over DAS DIRTY BIRDS——I’m thinking they’re still in shell shock after having a good chance of knocking the Saints off last week.....
IGGLES over 49ERS-—you played yourself back in the divisional race Monday night. On Sunday, the Iggle will make sure you play yourself right out of it again!!!
PACK over STEEL-—And there was much rejoicing. At least in big’s, the pack knight’s and yours truly’s domiciles......
ALLEGRA’S TEXICANS over LAMBS—like we didn’t know this already......
FISH over OLD OILERS-—In what could be the game of the day, it all comes down to who wants it more. If VY plays all 4 quarters and is effective, I could lose this one......
HORSIES over RAIDERS-—What, Jamarcus Russell is the savior?? That’s what I thought!!!
SUPERCHARGERS over BENGIRLS-—Damn them Bolts look rock solid. Is this the year........
SEAHAGS over BUCS-—zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
VIQUEENS over PANTHERS-—Matt Moore starts again?? OH GOODIE!!!
GINTS over DEADSKINS—I guess only because Eli’s arm is still in place and last week’s Skin win doesn’t make them suck any less than they really are!!!
AND FINALLY!!! I can’t actually believe I’m doing it, but.....I’m picking THE BROWNS to win this week!! Remember the there’s a lot of bad QB’s in the NFL line?? Well Brody Croyle is worse than Brady Quinn is!!! So there you go!!!
Late update.....It seems Tom Cable is putting his trust in Charlie Frye on Sunday and not Jarmarcus Russell.....
TEE HEE HEE.......

KD and Biker Chick, if I missed your picks, sorry, just post them and I'll fill in on next update.
My thoughts on this week's games, although I'm not done picking:
Jags have something to play for, Colts don't. Colts still win.
Dallas needs to win out. If they do, they win the East title. If they don't, they have to finish a game ahead of the Giants, as the Giants have the tiebreaker. This isn't a December swoon for the Cowboys. All season they've beaten bad teams and lost to good ones. They don't have a loss to a team under .500 and their only win against a team over .500 is the Eagles. The Eagles have three games they could easily win or lose. I see the last of the fighting in the NFC as the three NFC East teams fighting for two playoff places.
Packers are close to having one of the wild card slots nailed down, as they only need one more win and have games against Pittsburgh (6-7) and Seattle (5-8). They could possibly play the Cards in Arizona two weeks in a row. Seahawks and Buccaneers have nothing to play for, except their jobs. This is the only game this week where both teams are mathematically eliminated.
Although not mathematically eliminated, the Steelers, Titans, Texans, Falcons and 49ers are danged near dead. Barring crazy circumstances, the Broncos nail down one wild card and the Jags, Ravens, Dolphins and Jets fight for the other. Right now, the Dolphins and Ravens have the easiest path, as none of their remaining opponents are over .500. The Jets and Jags have tough schedules left.
The Cowboys have two problems that keep them from being an elite team, and Tony Romo isn't one of them. The first is that the offensive play calling is bizarre. The second is that the defense plays well about 90% of the time, then gives up big plays.
Rumors are that Jason Garrett is the head coach in waiting, and of course, Wade has been in a situation similar to Jim Zorn's. He doesn't make the offensive calls. The shine has gone off of Garrett since the 13-3 season. I think it's been revealed that Tony Sparano was the play calling guru behind that season.
Other problems: Marion Barber is a closer, not an every down back. Tashard Choice is the best all purpose back, but they insist on using a dinged up Barber over a healthy Tashard. The Cowboys don't have enough depth to cover up for injured players. This is a result of Jones betting the farm on players like Barber, Owens and DWare, plus years of mediocre drafts.
If Jones has gone off of Garrett, the next best bet is that he'll look for a high profile coach. My guess is the following:
Cowher can get any spot he wants, and will probably stay in the southeast. Gruden was hot for the Cowboys job, but the Redskins just let Cerrato go and grabbed Bruce Allen as director of football operations. He just happens to have held the same position with the Raiders and the Bucs when Gruden was head coach at those locations. That's like a neon sign, to me, saying the Skins want Gruden. Mike Holmgren has indicated he'd like to go back to the Seahawks, and he left the Packers because they wouldn't give him enough control over personnel. Hard to see him working for Jones. That leaves Mike Shanahan. I've never thought Shanahan was as good as some think, and his zone blocking scheme would require a complete overhaul of the Cowboys offensive line, which is built for power, not the speed required of zone blockers. Jerry may remember when Parcells tore apart the #1 defense in the league to convert the Cowboys from a 4-3 to a 3-4, although the current Cowboys O-line is nowhere near the top of the league.
Personally, I was hoping for Gruden, but I'd bet he'll be prowling the Skins sidelines next year.
A lot of fans are calling for Jimmy Johnson to come back, but considering the bad blood between him and Jones, and the fact that Johnson makes a fortune working twenty hours a week, AND the fact that he's no longer the driven fanatic he was fifteen years ago makes this seem unlikely to me.
So, my guess is Wade is out, but I have no idea who will come in.
The KC/CLE game is also meaningless.......
As it should be. I can’t believe I actually picked the Browns TO WIN!!!!
And if somehow Jon Gruden is the next Browns coach, I may actually become a fan again!!!
The Buccaneers are leading in the college draft competition, but considering the performance/price of recent over all #1 picks, that may not be a blessing.
