Just a few hours earlier the sex-mad sportsman had been told by his mum that cancer-stricken Earl was "in a bad way".
But after visiting his dad in a hospice, Tiger went home and cheated on wife Elin with former model Jamie Jungers. As they lay in bed afterwards, Tiger got a call telling him Earl had passed away.
Jamie, 26, told the News of the World last night: "I was beside him wearing nothing but a pair of panties."
Deceased Earl, 74, was described by his son as: "My best friend and greatest role model - an amazing dad, coach, mentor, soldier, husband and friend."
But his grief over losing his war veteran father did not stop Tiger continuing his torrid affair. It only ended six months later - when Jamie asked her lover for financial aid.
She said: "He's a cheap f***er and he just didn't want to help me."
And she added: "I suspect he was seeing other women at the same time as me. Tiger's very highly sexed. He loves sex."
Their affair began in the summer of 2005 - a few months after Tiger's wedding. On May 2, 2006, he was with Jamie in his marital home in California when his mum Tida called about Earl - who had prostate cancer and was in a hospice.
Jamie said: "She told Tiger his dad was in a bad way. Tiger immediately left to be with him and I stayed at the house. He was gone nearly three hours.
"When he came back, I could see he was preoccupied and worried about his dad - but when we went to bed he still wanted to have sex as usual.
"We went to sleep. I was beside him wearing nothing but a pair of panties. Then at about 3am the phone rang. It was Tiger's mum.
"She called to tell him that his dad had passed away. Tiger looked utterly devastated and didn't say a word. He didn't even cry but I could tell he was heartbroken.
"I told him, 'I'm so sorry' and gave him a hug. I didn't want to be in the way so I arranged a flight home to Vegas."
The next day, Tiger phoned. Jamie said: "I didn't expect to hear from him for a while. I thought he would be busy having just lost his dad.
"But he told me how much he appreciated me being there with him and thanked me for my support."
The lovers first met at Las Vegas's Bellagio hotel, when Tiger was on a night out. Jamie was working voluntarily for The Vegas Angels - a troupe of models who help with charity events. The pair flirted before Tiger took her to his suite at the plush MGM Grand, where they had "wild and crazy sex".
Jamie - who furiously denies recent claims by Hollywood madame Michelle Braun that she was an escort girl - left Woods her modelling card.
She said: "I was at a barbecue with friends the next day and I told a few of them about Tiger. So when he called in front of them it was very exciting for us.
"He gave me his private mobile number but warned, 'Just save it on your phone as a different name from mine in case somebody finds it.'"
The next weekend he asked Jamie to join him at the Chicago Open golf tournament, saying an aide would make the arrangements.
Jamie was whisked to his hotel and taken to his room. "Once we were alone, we talked for a bit," she recalled. But his chat-up lines weren't the best. "He told this story about when he was younger and had to wear braces and a headpiece because his teeth were so bad," she said.
Less than three weeks after their affair started, Woods invited Jamie to his marital home - one of five properties he owns around the world. Jamie, who once played a mistress in the TV series CSI - said: "It was a little strange for me.
"There were recent pictures of him and Elin, as well as their wedding photos. That did make me feel bad for his wife. I'd hate someone to do that to me.
"I knew it wasn't right and I did try to put a stop to things but Tiger would pull me into his arms and on to the bed and beg me not to go. He'd tell me, 'But I love being around you'. And the truth is, I loved being around him."
Jamie said he made her feel like his girlfriend rather than a mistress. She said: I had the run of the house, and when we were together it really felt like we were a proper couple.
"I'd get up in the morning and he'd be downstairs eating a bowl of Lucky Charms cereal on the sofa and watching cartoons like a kid.
"I never confronted him about his reasons for cheating. I've been cheated on by guys so I know how they can be."
Jamie also claims Woods was protective of her, and got jealous when she flirted with other men. She recalled: "One night we were partying with Tiger's pals and some other guys. "I was dancing close with all of them and I could feel Tiger's eyes on me. Then he started to get jealous and cut in and pulled me on to his lap.
"He was always openly affectionate towards me in front of his friends. They knew what was going on between us for sure - and Tiger knew they would keep his secret."
The affair floundered in late 2006, when Woods - who is believed to be a billionaire - refused his mistress's request for cash. Jamie - whose videoed interview can be seen online at notw.co.uk - said: "Tiger was always tight with money. When we'd go out for dinner, he never left a tip or he'd ask for the meal to be complimentary because he was 'Tiger Woods'. I just thought that was cheap and it always embarrassed me.
"I never expected him to buy me anything. But he's the richest sports star on the planet and he never once bought me a gift - not even for Christmas or my birthday.
"Once, when we were in Las Vegas, playing blackjack in the MGM Grand's private gambling room, he won hundreds of thousands of dollars.
"He had it all there in his pockets yet never thought once about giving me a chip or letting me have a turn on him. He was very, very stingy with his money." But Jamie turned to him when she wanted to move out of the home she was sharing with an ex.
She recalled: "I was in tears as I begged Tiger to give me financial assistance. He just batted me away and told me, 'Look, don't worry, babe. I'm sure everything will work itself out.'
"I persisted and told him straight, 'I am financially unstable right now and you are a very wealthy man. I would never ordinarily ask you but I think you've known me long enough to trust me and want to help me'.
"His response was stony silence. Then he started, 'Where did this come from? You've never said anything like this before. I don't like this side of you.'They started rowing and Jamie hung up. Then Woods phoned her back, saying: "Don't do this. I really care about you."
However, Jamie has not spoken to him since - and a few months after their bust-up she heard Elin was pregnant with Tiger's first child.
Jamie said: "That hurt my feelings more than anything.
"Clearly all the time he was sleeping with me he was still sleeping with her - yet I had managed to convince myself he wasn't.
She added: "I firmly believe he deserves everything he's getting now. He doesn't belong married, that's for sure."
I hope everyone who’s so into this foolishness is aware that while this silly, stupid, pointless crap has taken over the airwaves, far less time has been given to the healthcare story.
Yeah, I have to agree. Covering it at the beginning is one thing, as Tiger certainly was / is big in the public, business, and edging into political spectrum.
But now? I - by mistake - tuned into CBS Evening News today, and Tiger Woods was the lead story, complete with a golf analyst coming it to explain the significance of this to viewers.
Let's see, we have Iran working on nukes, > 10% unemployment, the takeover of a huge part of the economy (Obamacare), Climategate, the fact that Obama pays millions to avoid establishing his credentials to hold office, etc.... AND THIS IS WHAT THESE MORONS COVER!
so we should not talk about Tiger Woods screwing gang bang porn stars because we are thwarting efforts to stall/stop healthcare?
i apologize DW...geez..
so we should not talk about Tiger Woods screwing gang bang porn stars because we are thwarting efforts to stall/stop healthcare?
before I found out all he did so far I was willing to say ..so what...he cheats?..big deal...just poor character or maybe she was a cold bitch
but any guy does what he does with some very skanky gang bang anal porn girls and then goes home and boinks his cute wife and mother of his kids possibly giving her God knows what is pond scum and deserves the ridicule

“Clearly all the time he was sleeping with me he was still sleeping with her - yet I had managed to convince myself he wasn’t.
She added: “I firmly believe he deserves everything he’s getting now. He doesn’t belong married, that’s for sure.”
Here’s the key question to ask about Tiger and his wife. Did they have sexual intercourse before they were still unmarried? If the answer is ‘yes’ then they both established one thing very clearly which is “NEITHER OF US HAS TO BE MARRIED TO ANOTHER PERSON IN ORDER TO HAVE SEX WITH THEM” They both established this fact before marRIAGE, SO why would that rule have changed just because they ‘got married’?
“There were recent pictures of him and Elin, as well as their wedding photos. That did make me feel bad for his wife. I’d hate someone to do that to me.”

That relevant thought still didn’t stop you at all did it?
Thank you, Darkwolf377, I agree completely.
This is like being behind the idiot “lookie-loo’s” on the freeway who CANNOT RESIST getting an eyeful of gore and destruction while passing by an accident scene, causing delays upon delays.
It’s base and pathetic.
Do these vampires hate Woods, or envy him deep down? Do they savor the opportunity to think ill of someone else, someone with greatness?
I just don’t get the fascination, the obsession.
No wonder we’re in the trouble we’re in right now.
I wish the tabloid TRASH for TRASH would not be posted on FR.
Meanwhile, their would-be masters are carving-up a thick ‘n juicy piece of slavery for their sorry *sses. Served-up with a side of long-term indebtedness for their worker drone children.
But hey, a sex-addicted golfer is a much preferred diversion from the reality of power-addicted politicians, right?
A Christmas with communist medicine is still Christmas, after all.
Merry Christmas, comrades!

Oh, so reading these stupid stories is a public service? Give me a break.
This stuff appeals to people's worst instincts, and covering it to this ludicrous extreme happens because people are getting off on the soap opera aspects. They're not sitting around watching it going, "Hey, I don't want to see the next woman this guy's screwing, but it's my civic duty."
Getting off on this foolishnesss while things are going on which are destroying our country is one thing. Pretending we're doing so because we're being good citizens is just a total crock.
I've read exactly one story about all of this, but I probably know as much as anyone only because of the headlines and hearing bits as I switch off the radio. What he did is bad enoughl that a nation is getting such glee at it is another kind of insanity.
This story simply doesn't matter to the rest of us, but you can bet it's acting as a perfect diversion. If there were nothing else to cover but healthcare, imagine how we could be educating the public about the dems' abuse of our government.
But instead people are watching another installment of this soap opera like it actually has any importance to their lives.
But you have to admit though that stories where the mighty have fallen is a common theme through history, myth, and legend.
Probably part of the question that ordinary folks have when they think “What would I do, how would I live my life, if I was that fantastic?”
More interesting for the average housewife/houseman than folding the clothes out of the dryer.
We are, for all intents, already conquered. Something like 40% of Americans already receive benefits. They’re NOT GONNA bite the hand that feeds them.
All the banks need do is say “If you audit the Federal Reserve, you won’t get your (social security/medicaid/food stamps/veterans benefits/............... etc etc etc etc etc etc etc).
And as far as TARP goes, all the banks need to say to the government is “Well, hey, if you don’t give us this little bailout, we will no longer honor government issued checks and you get to clean things up...”
There is no way you can work within the system and change anything. Congress will still keep printing money to line their pockets and pay off their supporters.
A staunch Republican called Rush on day and said he was going to vote democratic. He was going to find the most outlandish, liberal Democrats he could to vote for. The reason? He figured the more Dems he voted for, the sooner things would collapse, and go back to a more natural way of being.
Of course I understand the reasons this is interesting, but mature, intelligent people have to resist the impulse to just graze on this. OK, we know Tiger cheats—someone tell me what use it is paying one more second’s worth of attention to this dumb story while we have the democrats working feverishly to take over more of our lives?
Thanks DW, I’m sure glad you and Boucheau are around to uphold the public morals here on FR.
Lol...But we still write Brother
Here’s a news flash...
If there was no Tiger Woods story, the media would still not be reporting on anything important. They would find some other trash story to distract the sheeple with.
Do you really think that, absent this story, the media would suddenly and magically have their journalistic integrity restored?
Not too ******* likely.
In a sense, government works because it doesn’t.
IF... and that’s a VERY BIG IF... the people had gotten government to represent them, on things like immigration control, term limits, balanced budget, etc. then they would be inspired to expect government to actually do their bidding.
But the government was basically able to fractionalize us so much, and churn us up libs vs conservatives, blacks vs whites, etc that they ignored us.
And ONCE WE WERE IGNORED, I think the people gave up. Sure, they still vote, they pay their taxes, it almost seems like it’s more of an obligation to show they are patriotic, but as far as anything that goes on in DC, my opinion is the average person thinks there is not a rat’s chance in hell that he can change a single thing.
So government ignored us and made us go away. Why bother?
