TAMPA - From her hospital bed at St. Joseph's in Tampa, Kelly Doxsey showed what happened to her upper arm after a pit bull attack back in Nov. 23.

That's when she says she and her 7-year-old niece, Karoline McQueary, were walking on a sidewalk along Wood Lake Boulevard in Town 'N Country area.

Doxsey was walking her small dog, named Scrappy. "As soon as I turned my back, I heard the fence splinter" she said.

Next, she said a large pit bull walked toward them. "When he leapt at my throat, I put my arm up there and he grabbed ahold of it and he was just shaking me around like a rag doll," Doxsey said.

After a time, the dog let go, but only for a moment. Doxsey said the dog began to growl and put his head down. "I thought, oh my God, and so I kinda grabbed him by his head, and shook him and shoved my arm back in his mouth to keep him focused on me" instead of her niece, she said.

Soon, somebody inside the house where the dog was kept opened the front door, which prompted the pit bull to go inside.

An ambulance took Doxsey to the hospital where she has undergone several surgeries to repair the damage.

A spokesperson from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said they cited a man who claimed to be "dog sitting."

Hillsborough Animal Services spokesperson, Marti Ryan said the dog, named Pablo, was euthanized.

do your research next time, sorry to break it to you but unlike what you may think ALL PIT BULLS are not mean. It IS in fact how you bring them up and socialize them, all dogs can be mean, but I mean its up to you if you would like to be a judgmental naive person your whole life. Who likes to follow one story they hear, and jumps to conclusions.
