Something is really wrong at ND. I've been following college football for a long time. ND has nearly unlimited money. They have there own broadcast TV network, NBC. They get BCS games they don't deserve which brings in huge amounts of money. The got slaughtered by Oregon State, Ohio State, and LSU in BCS bowl games that they never should have been invited to in the first place. They lost 8 straight bowl games-not because they didn't deserve to be in a bowl game but because they were getting BCS or other high ranking bowl games they didn't deserve.

They get special treatment from the NCAA and the Sports Media. This is outrageous and I think something ought to be done about it.

Even with all the problems at ND, they get a top ten recruiting class EVERY YEAR and they still are under performing. How do you go 6-6 with all that talent? They've been through 3 coaches now.

Anyone got any thoughts on what's wrong at the Golden Dome?

At Notre Dame you have an institution drenched in narcissism. They don't really believe they need a coach at all. Any damn fool off the street will become the next Ara Parseghian, just by virtue of the shadow of the golden era of the late 1940's. Plus, with their radio network, every senile union thug in the midwest thinks ND is still a national contender, even though they haven't done squat in 20 years.

As I've said before, ND is a marketing monster, but the pencilnecks in marketing don't get the job done on the field.

There is not even a smidgen of Catholic/Christian priciple left anywhere on campus. All that remains is symbolism - no substance.

I don't think they get special treatment from the media. Many in the media have been criticizing them because they fired the previous coach too soon and he was an African American. ESPN and several radio shows have been very negative.

I think there are three reasons they have underperformed:

1. Since Holtz the coaches were specialists and not experienced or flexible enough

2. academic standards are truly higher than most schools

3. recruiting depth

Really ND owns NBC? Oh you must be talking about the fact that NBC decided to hook up with Notre Dame because most of the other good conferences have own deals with ESPN, ABC, CBS, or Fox... Who the hell does ND think they are trying to get the best TV coverage they can? So what else grinds your gears?

If you think ND needs the money from BCS games you don’t follow college football quite as closely as you claim. As to ‘Not deserving’ a bid how the hell is Georgia Tech getting one this year?

Oh yea those poor prosecuted power conferences. When ND keeps a mid major from a bowl game you wake me up. Until then I guess the CS conferences will have to console themselves with the thought that they can lock TCU out.
