Just in from our computer tech.
Last night/early this morning. MS forced an update patch on all Windows users. We know it affected all running XP. It may have hit Vista and 7 as well.
Many users had a forced Windows reboot/restart this morning.
Seems the patch is causing havoc in email systems nationwide. Our computer guy normally gets 8-20 trouble calls a day. So far today, it's more than 250. His affiliates across the country report the same.
Our internet access is fine (as others seems to be to) but emails are very slow (3 to 5 minutes from offices on the same hallaway!)
More as known.

At least one person (me) running XP had nothing forced on him. You need to double-check that statement.
et moi also — four XP machines here — no automatic updates ever all the time, zero zip nada. Sometime when I get around to it, I will check out the updates and pick and choose (after the auto-update guinea pigs have done their job)
I had an Atari one time...
I spent many of my hours available for this planet on a TI-99 playing Asteroids...
Then again, no comparison to the time spent on FR :o)
Hey, I still remember pong, but there is no way Mom would have let us spend hours and hours sitting in front of a game. The piano yes, the TV, uh no.
That’s funny. Interesting note: My servers are just fine this morning. Is is my MacBook Pro running Win7. ;-)
“As is”... Need more coffee.
