I had a hat much like it except it was white.
I own a Harley Davidson blue-jean hat similar to what Palin is wearing, and definitely was NOT thinking CASTRO when I bought it. Was thinkin’ “What a cute, stylish hat”. They look really good on and palin is the perfect example of that. She just has really good taste and looks really good, and many people can’t handle that about her. Her whole outfit “Rocks” especially those shoes! Palin is AWESOME, BACK OFF!

Unless it’s got a name or logo on it it’s just a hat. I’ve got one of those Russian fur hats, doesn’t make me a communist, but it does make me warm in the snow.
This is getting ridiculous. Castro has no claim to her hat. I have a picture of an ancestor who wore a similar hat before Castro was born. It is just a hat, not even identical to his.
The only similarity is it has a brim and the color. My wife was kind to point out that what she is wearing is a 'casquette' hat that was popular in the 20s and is becoming popular again. 
Ayn Rand was also known to sometimes wear this style of hat. Baseball hats had their origins with the casquette hat.
This thread wasn't too bad! I like Palin, and I don't think her hat has anything to do with Castro, but to be honest, I WAS expecting some FR discussion of her hat when I saw those pictures - it is quite a hat!
Aquabird could certainly use help in his fashion-accessory-naming-skills, but didn't imply that Palin wants to dictate and impoverish people like the petty ruler of Cuba. If you look at his posting history here, you'll see that he isn't a bad egg or troll - at least one that this greybeard can determine....
