Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world’s a sunny day, Oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don’t take my Kodachrome away

My guess would be monitor, particularly if you have a traditional CRT model rather than a flat-screen. CRT monitors have three electron “guns” for primary colors. If one fails, you will get the symtoms you describe.
If you have another montitor, try that first. You can also try a TV that has a VGA input (most LCD TVs to).

A large UPS from Sam’s Club is one of the most useful pieces of computer equipment I ever bought. Wind storms, lightning strikes, car to power pole accidents, and transformer blowouts all pass without harm or even a flicker on screen. In one instance, I even completed and emailed a time sensitive piece of work out on deadline by relying on UPS reserve power.

My guess is a video card problem. You might reinstall video drivers. Good call. Reinstall, reinintialize, reboot.

You may also try going to the desktop.
Right-click on it and select Properties from the drop-down list.
Click the last tab of Settings.
Check to see if your computer is displaying the highest color quality (32-bit or 64-bit) and that you have the correct monitor name selected. Many any necessary adjustments.
The other option is to re-install your video card firmware from the manufacturer's site. The name of the card is listed in these same display settings or Control Panel's Hardware Device settings. I hope you figure it out.

If the above suggestions don't help, find a first aid kit, or allow one of your team mates to heal you. You will return from black and white to full color, and be able to make it to the safe room...

It’s obvious. If the computer no longer has pages of color it is racist. Get rid of it.

I had my computer on a UPS (supposed to be a good one), but it caused me so many problems I finally just unplugged it. No problems since. I don’t know why, but it bugged me to distraction.
