I have an old HP Pavilion with a corrupted Windows OS and no recovery disk. I wiped it clean and put on Linux. When my brother in law tossed out a computer with a burned out mother board I took out the hard drive and stuck in it that old beast. It’s now got 10 different versions of Linux on it that I mess around with.
Linux guys are under the hood guys. Used to work with an under the hood guy. Every time we were working on a deadline, I’d come in and the computer was in fifteen parts on his desk.
I think it’s like a guy that enjoys working on cars. He may know everything, but the down time is pretty high. When the wife wants to go to the store, the car’s disassembled in the driveway.
