That it is. We’re still fighting the same battles. I’d bet good money I could describe the current political mess to any of the Founders and they’d recognize the same issues, the same temptations, the same passions. The only really wrenching part would be when they realized they’d have to stop calling themselves “liberals.” Only the labels have changed.

Interestingly, back then, Free Republic would be the website for the centralized big-government Federalists, in large part, yet modern conservativism is far closer to both the Republicans and Federalists than modern "liberalism," IMHO.
