Don’t get me wrong, BJ is a extraordinary talent.
But if you listen carefully to his lyrics, there is a definite undercurrent of contemptuousness and meanness that percolates under the surface nearly all the time. This is really evident in “Only The Good Die Young”, “Big Shot”, “Moving Out” and many others from that era. I can only imagine that a person of his genius, with such a rapier-like wit and talent with words, coupled with depression and exacerbated by alcohol, could really destroy a person in an argument.
That is why growing with him would be an ordeal, I would think. Unless he is TOTALLY different from his music!
