Report: Police Visit Hospital Looking for Information On Tiger Woods' Visit

Cops are stepping up an investigation into whether an act of domestic violence occurred in Tiger’s lair.

The Florida Highway Patrol stopped by the hospital where Woods was treated after his Friday morning accident, reports TMZ.com. Witnesses tell the Web site that the troopers were looking for information tied to golfing great's visit.

Earlier Monday, TMZ reported that the FHP was pursuing a search warrant that would allow them access to Woods' medical records, although a police spokesperson says no formal request has been made.

The search warrant talk comes after Woods and wife Elin Nordegren cancelled an interview with police officers for a third time.

Sources told TMZ authorities think they can show probable cause of a crime having been committed, a requirement in obtaining a warrant. Among the potential scenarios the police are looking into is an inconsistency in Nordegren’s story to police. According to reports, she told troopers she used a golf cart to look for Woods when she came upon the accident, but did not mention the golf cart when she first spoke to police after her husband's accident. The 29-year-old former model could be facing a potential domestic violence charge.

Woods also told a friend that he was taking prescription medication for pain, TMZ previously reported, which could be consistent with a DUI

The police released a statement this morning saying that isn’t true. They are not looking for evidence of anything.

You were saying ...

I totally agree with your point, but if Tiger was operating a motor vehicle during the accident the Patrol will get his blood tests.

The interesting thing about that is that the police have already stated in public that there was no alcohol involved. So, they don't seem inclined to go that route.

However, they do seem inclined to go another route and charge someone else with a crime, which is why Tiger and his wife should not say anything to the police under any circumstances.

And neither should you or I or anyone else, under any circumstances...

Now that would be good documentation to have (on Free Republic) in order to "set the story straight" and get rid of a whole lot of rumors floating around here... LOL...

Do you have a link?

A partial quote from a news article...

[ ... ]

Woods met Florida's legal requirement by providing police with his driver's license, car registration and proof of insurance, and is not obliged to volunteer medical records, video from home security cameras or anything else investigators might want, prominent Florida lawyer Roy Black said.

"Any lawyer with a brain in their head is not going to allow him to talk to the police because nothing good can come of talking to the police," said Black, who defended William Kennedy Smith, a member of America's Kennedy clan, against a rape charge, and radio host Rush Limbaugh in a drug fraud case.

Woods said in a written statement on Sunday that the accident was his fault and was "obviously embarrassing to my family and me." He called irresponsible the "many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me."

[ ... ]

The Florida Highway Patrol said it had not made any comments on Woods' medical information, an apparent reference to a published report that investigators were seeking a search warrant for the hospital where the golfer was treated to obtain his medical records.

I heard that on Fox News this morning. But, I just found this...

State police in Florida said Monday an investigation of the single-vehicle crash “is ongoing and charges are pending.”

“We have been informed by the Florida Highway Patrol that further discussion with them is both voluntary and optional,” said Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg, in a written statement. “Although Tiger realizes that there is a great deal of public curiosity, it has been conveyed to FHP that he simply has nothing more to add and wishes to protect the privacy of his family.”

Here's an interesting comment in that article you reference...

"If we're unable to meet with him, we'll move on with our investigation," Montes said. But she called the delays "very unusual, because it's such a minor accident."

Now, if the police are saying that this kind of delay is very unusual for "such a minor accident" -- then by inference and conclusion, I would say that the "charges" could only be "minor" too.... LOL...

a search warrant that would allow them access to Woods' medical records,

A very rich guy pulls out of his driveway at about 2:30 a.m., 20 feet later he hits a fire hydrant between his driveway and his neighbor's then a tree in his neighbor's driveway.

Another neighbor, hearing the commotion, calls 911........

Gosh darn right, there needs to be a full scale investigation into this mass destruction of both public and private property. (Well ok, the fire hydrant was damaged and the neighbor's tree won the battle). But nevertheless, no civilian is above the law and Tiger Woods and his family should be no exception.

With that being said, The Tiger Woods Foundation should be closed down also until the full facts of this investigation are completed......../sarc
