We get quite a few foreign tourists where we live in Alaska. The Swiss & Japanese are about as laid back, nonconfrontational as you find. I've had Swiss stay over at the house, they luv shootin guns, riding snowmachine, ect. They all have their military gun, but keep them stashed away, never shoot them off at home. They'll never argue with you about anything, even global warming. I understand with the Swiss, but can't figure the Japanese. They were such killers in WWII, today all they'll say is Japanese like peace.
They don't have the social problems that exist in our country. Course there hasn't been a murder in my town in 30 years, not the same in OBama Land.

I doubt the rate of gun ownership in Switzerland has much—if anything—to do with a low crime rate.
A much more important factor is having an homogeneous society in which people are more inclined to see their fellow citizens as almost being part of their own extended family, and not as oppressors who deserve to be robbed, raped, or killed.
Meanwhile, the video itself seems more concerned with making the case the guns are necessary for citizens to protect themselves from tyranny and their country from any attackers.

The Swiss have compulsory military service, as we had here in Union long ago. I've been thinking lately that having a standing, professional army is a sort of self-defense welfare state, and impacts on the PEOPLE's ability and willingness to arm and defend themselves the same way subsistance welfare programs impact the formation of the family.
In other words, the more the gubmint takes care of something for you, the less you take care of it yourself. Ergo we have many Americans who believe guns are for the professional army and the professional police.
In our country, which is a consolidated national government, I worry about compulsory military service. If we were a confederacy, as Switzerland is and as we once were, I would think it a good and proper idea, and would think that it would benefit the PEOPLE as a whole. With our all-powerful national government, I am not so sure.

Of course a high percentage of gun ownership—especially by those who know how to use them—will reduce crime. But the nearly all white make-up of the nation probably plays the greatest role. Imagine suddenly having the populations of Detroit and Chicago in Zurich. Ya think the crime rate might just escalate? A non-PC comment, but truth often is.
