Moreover, ND graduates FAR more players than Ohio State could ever dream about graduating, to say nothing of the SEC teams.

Well you have to at least give the SEC credit for getting most of those kids through their high school GEDs. ;~))

Any real student of the game knows of Notre Dames history.
Were I a great q.b. prospect the chance to go there and lead like some of the greats have would be an alure.
But the ability to go to Florida, U.S.C. or maybe Miami would be hare to turn down.
Those sunny beaches and those bikini’s

"ND fan formula thing but I can understand older generations where they grew up with explicit or implicit “Catholics Need Not Apply” sings at most unviersities."

That's it exactly. I'm about 10 years older than you, and I can tell you in my Catholic family, we were all ND fans. I went to a public school for my undergrad, but to ND for graduate school. My grandparents cried for a week (tears of joy) when I was admitted.

Bobby Bowden has been given the option to return next year but with less responsibilities. He’ll make a decision Tuesday

"The issue at ND is not beating USC and OSU, the critical issue is losing to Navy,UcoNN and Pitt etc."

Yep, those were they coup de grâce for Weis. It didn't help that all those teams were having good years, and they (especially Navy) presented defensive problems for Weis.

Innovation, or the lack thereof, on the defensive side of the ball was Wies original sin (pardon the reference).

There was always a cure for that malady: Boston College. But ND went Hollywood in the '40s after "The Knute Rockne Story."

Notre Dame has been cursed by a Higher Power for giving a prestigious award to Obama the Abortion Lover.

I was born the same year as you but I am of Irish decent. That might be a factor. Boston College is good but Notre Dame was always held as the better school. Mind you I didn’t go to either school but I do route for Notre Dame.

the team leadership committee was to meet Monday afternoon to vote on whether to accept a bowl bid if it is offered. It is unlikely Weis will coach the team in that game.

A 6-6 team who has lost their last 4 going to a bowl??

No way Bob Stoops goes to N.D.

Sure hope not. This has been a less than stellar year, but Stoops will have OU contending again shortly.

It's your fault...think how good they would have done if you could "root" for them. (grins)

Maybe Weis can become an assistant at UConn next season.

The "O" line wasn't as good as "wished" from the get-go.

Then all the injuries killed them........

The "D" on the other hand is very stout!

OU will re-load......and be competitive..next year.

I can't see Stoops leaving.....

It's a sweet deal for him there........

I went to my first OU game..( and first college game ever..) this year.

Darn it....was so fun!!

FRegards,

Keeping a few players healthy will do wonders for OU next year!

It’s hard to overcome the loss of two potential All-Americans on offense, like OU did, they’ll be back.

Well Stoopsie will get a big fat raise again after Notre Dame comes a courting. Agreed Stoops will be back at OU, all major programs go through a down year or 2, but unlike Weis and now Bowden at FSU , you have to roll off your back and get up. We had parity in college football for the years 1985-2003 now it seems the consolidation of the power in the college football world is happening again as the same 8 teams Alabama, Texas, LSU, Florida, USC, Ohio State, Oklahoma, according to Rivals.com a recruiting service suck up 75% of the 5 star players. I know, I know Boise State and TCU, well we will see, heard this all before... Hawaii in 2007 was 12-0 and destroyed opponents by 5 TDs and then proceeded to get pwed in the 2008 Sugar Bowl versus Georgia. And to quote a Georgia a player after the 41-10 shlacking ...”Man I can imagine how bad the teams were they beat”
