Because by and large I don't believe it -- the evidence is mostly anecdotal, and assumes that every person who ever supported a candidate still works for that candidate long after the campaign is done. It further presumes that this nefarious "team" had the ability to learn things about Palin that no other reporter or person could learn, or that this non-existant "team romney" for some bizarre reason had inside access to Palin in order to dig up dirt. There is no doubt that some people who had supported other candidates, including Romney, had problems with Palin. It's also clear that the information about Palin, her family, and the trumped-up scandal in Alaska were picked up directly by the Press, not from some nefarious "leak". And in fact, the only people who had direct access to information that could be 'leaked" was the MCCAIN CAMPAIGN STAFF. These are people HIRED BY JOHN MCCAIN. If John McCain hired people from other campaigns, and then they leaked information about his campaign, and he didn't fire them, I blame McCain and the McCain campaign, not the candidate they previously worked for. If Romney had a team capable of half of what they are blamed for, he'd be President. I don't think Romney's "team" are blameless; in fact, I understand why the campaign was not well-liked by other candidates. I've also seen Romney blamed for things done by his former staff long after they went to work for McCain; I've seen him blamed for things done by people who donated money to him; but I've seen no evidence that Romney was behind all the things he is blamed for. Still, I don't generally argue about these perceptions, since people's opinions are entrenched, and as I see no reason to maintain Romney's viability now that we have 3 years to get a better candidate, I've moved on -- something that way too many romney haters seems to be incapable of doing. And maybe because I don't see Romney as a threat in 2012, and I see his current PAC giving money to good conservative candidates, and I saw Romney raise money to help our Governor-Elect Bob McDonnell, I have no desire to run Romney out of the Republican party. And again because I don't see him as a viable candidate for anything where conservatives will have a majority vote, in my personal opinion this site wastes too much time and effort on Romney, time better spent dealing with the problems that are in front of us. The site is free to waste it's time of course -- but there is much risk in alienating people who agree with 95% of the conservative cause, and simply disagree on whether Romney's conversion was real or fake. That was a battle that was important during the primary, and a battle Romney lost (and I was on the "losing" side, which wouldn't have bothered me if we had managed to get Thompson the nomination), but now it seems like a scorched-earth policy that divides conservatives when we need to be united against Obamacare. And further, I think it is misguided, because if there is anything that reveals Romney in a negative light, it's Obamacare -- so without any prodding, Romney is fading away as we unite to fight Obamacare.
Well; by looking at FR, it appears that assumption is CORRECT!
I think that a lot of people who make the decision to support a candidate would continue to support and defend the candidate.
We were talking about working for the candidate. Most people at FR never worked for a candidate, they are just vocal supporters of candidates.
I’ve been told that some of those who just look like supporters are actually campaign staff — I don’t know who they are, or how many there are, but I presume there must be some. In my opinion, people who are on the staff of a campaign should disclose that if they are posting about their candidate.
But there are people who are paid to work for campaigns, and I presume that these people work for the campaigns they are being paid for. If I left my employer and went to work for another company, nobody would make the mistake of thinking my work was for my previous company.
And if my new company found me working for my previous employer, I’d be fired.
SO the fact that McCain didn’t fire anybody from his staff during the last two months tells me that whatever they said or did, it was either with his approval, or with his acquiescence, and not for their previous employers.
I think here we mix up campaign staff and supporters — so for example all the writers at National Review are treated as “Team Romney” because NR was pro-Romney during the election.
So long as the term was only used to indicate “supporters of”, it wasn’t a problem. But sometimes it is twisted to suggest a group of people acting under the orders of the candidate.
IN contrast, when I fault the Sarah Palin supporters who post cheesecake pictures on policy threads, or who act like she is their savior rather than a political candidate, or who indiscriminately attack others for disagreeing with them, I make it clear that I think they are acting without Palin’s approval or knowledge.
But by the standard set by some at FR, I should be able to personally blame Sarah Palin if one of her supporters is caught shoplifting at a bookstore.
Give us a break.
FReepers are not fools like you RomneyBOTs.
It might be a coincidence that 1 or 2 people associated with
Romney attacked Gov. Palin and her children.
But there have been so many, so many reported independently,
so many verified, that you are despicable to defend
the undefensible.
No wonder you attack minor issues to deflect from
the backstabbing of Team Romney (The ProObama GOP sector).
LLS
How many “Romney supporters” do you believe attacked Palin’s children?
As opposed to, say, complaining that Palin was too inexperienced to be President.
Or do you consider any negative statement about Palin to be an attack on her children?
We know the media attacked her children, but last time I checked Andrew Sullivan was not part of “Team Romney”.
Yeah, and I remember you when I asked you to respect my wishes and not to discuss something as personal as religion, and you wouldn’t be adult or respectful enough to do that. You never stop, do you? Besides, this is actually nothing.
That childish nonsense does not belong here,
but is now so typical of Romney and RomneyBOTs.
With gay marriage and RomneyCARE under my belt
and my failure as a governor, we can't push my record.
So lets continue to hide my failures, fascism
and imposed socialism behind my religion.

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"Im told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palins people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romneys former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.
Erick Erickson, who organized Operation Leper, said:
"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off
.hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

You posted a giant picture of that Pope comparing the Catholic big church to the Mormon big church in defense of Mitt Romney.
I posted a much smaller picture of that Pope’s decision on the Mormon religion, my context was fine thank you.
I would like to see your source for that claim.
The best to your friend.
FReepers are appalled that YOU and ROMNEY defend the
attacks on Gov.Palin, that you both cover them up,
that you change the subject, and that you
attack anyone who brings them up.
Romney COULD have defended Gov. Palin and helped the
ticket.
Romney COULD have called off his insane agents.
Grow up, and be an adult ... if you can.
FReepers are appalled that you are untruthful GOP_Lady.
FReepers are appalled that you pimp for Romney, and
attack anyone that criticizes his behavior.
Stop your whining!
Posting the truth about liberals is one reason Free Republic exists. Diogenesis is not ruining this website. Posting the truth about Romney’s liberal record has been going on around here for several years now and I don’t expect its gonna let up anytime soon.
RomneyBots and other assorted malcontents are the ones trying to undermine the conservative nature of this forum by continually promoting and defending Willard.
Did you ever think, maybe you’re on the wrong forum?
What posts do you think are "ruining" this website?
- those that discuss his imposition of socialized medicine?
- those that discuss his backstabbing against the GOP ticket?
- some others?
How could FR be "ruined" by a poster?
Why was FR "once" great but now no more?
Do you have a problem with Amendments, other than the First?
