What’s the spousal abuse law in Florida. In some states, it doesn’t matter if the victim wants to press charges or not- the cops are required to make an arrest.

Yes, that is the law in FL. If the police suspect that there's a violent altercation between two people in a domestic relationship, they are required by law to make an arrest. The police conduct in this matter has thus far been FAR below standard practices, in my estimation.

The States Attorneys Office proscutes these cases in Florida despite the wishes of the alleged victim. It is one of the few misdemeanors(and possibly a felony in this case) where an officer doesn’t have to witness it. Provided there is adequate evidence.
Was the FHP adequately prepared to conduct a Domestic Battery investigation?
