Having looked up his senate campaign and gubernatorial campaigns, he picks his personal beliefs to win at the moment.

It’s hard to see who he is and what he believes in until you see what he has actually DONE. And he can’t erase the facts that he disliked Reagan and his policies...

Very good assessment of Romney, in my opinion.

During the whole time he was running in the 2008 primary, I couldn't figure out what the guy stood for, for the life of me. I really didn't want to go digging to pin him down. I didn't feel that I should have to.

His record and positions on the issues that are important to Americans should have been lit up and large enough for me to clearly see. They weren't, which caused me to mistrust him.

I still don't know what he stands for.

As I replied to Noob1999, that's the whole point isn't it! Gov. Romney is not a Conservative. Even worse he is clearly the kind of politician that "picked his issues wisely" as the pundits said. A man that puts his finger in the wind to see which way it blows is the last person we need as President! We need a Conservative that knows right from wrong in his heart and is willing to stand upon his principles without equivocating. Gov. Romney is not our man.

I don't care if he is Mormon. Most Mormons I've known have a really good chance of filling that profile as the salt of the Earth. I think Romney, perhaps from a jaded upbringing by his Politico father, can't help trying to be liked instead of trying to lead. Remember George Romney even lead moderate Republicans against Barry Goldwater during the 1964 election. That means Mitt Romney has a heritage of anti-Conservativism. I asked Noob1999 to please stop this silly effort to disrupt a Conservative forum with his defeatist Progressive views.

BiggM,

I’m certainly not trying to “disrupt a Conservative forum with his defeatist, Progressive views!

On FR, normally we see various fund raising type pics after the initial post. Suddenly, where-ever I went I saw Romney faces- every thread. Why?? I asked why! I still ask why!

Personally I don’t think that Romney is someone to dump into the garbage heap a few years before election. The FR kitties tell me that I’m toast. That’s cool

All I wish, is to have the Pubbies; Conservatives: Independants, weigh in on the qualifications of all the potential candidates, without a three year out bashing of only one of those potentials.

My newly (noobie1999) status, coupled with my ten year aShepard handle has given me great insight as to how our party(s) will continue to have a very difficult time to take over congress in 2010, much less than kicking out oBoZo in 2012.

Unfortunately, to hit Pelosi, requires the SF freaks to dump her: Unfortunately to hit PigNose Waxman, the LA beautiful folks need to dump him! Reid, send him to the deserted casino tables, Dowd,Bwarney, let them paint faces on little seaside rocks.

Yet politics are local, but the destruction is Global!

Just get rid of Zer0 and his minions, with whoever, whoever!

Sorry it’s bedtime at 2:30am

Cheers

A man that puts his finger in the wind to see which way it blows is the last person we need as President!

We need a Conservative that knows right from wrong in his heart and is willing to stand upon his principles without equivocating. Gov. Romney is not our man.

And this is precisely where the professional political class and the elites are behind the curve. They don't yet realize that the people have had it with slick, pre-packaged candidates who are sold to us with Madison Avenue campaigns and chosen via back-room maneuvering among the party power brokers.

The majority of center-right voters are now demanding that Republican candidates actually have a record of solid conservatism, and a resume of real accomplishment. They have to be outspoken and very clear in their support of Reagan-style conservatism to garner the level of support needed to win elective office.

I have yet to see a published Conservative Litmus Test, but I can guarantee you that Romney scores very low on it, which rules him out as a real contender for 2012.

The people have broken with the party leadership, and are of a mind to choose their own candidates, at this point. In that wise, it doesn't matter how much money, time, and effort the Republican party puts behind a candidate of their choosing. If that person fails the people's conservative litmus test, it will all be for naught.
