First on TVNewser: American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert won't be appearing on "Good Morning America" tomorrow.
TVNewser has learned ABC News canceled the concert after Lambert's sexually charged performance at the American Music Awards Sunday night. Lambert led men on leashes, dragged a woman by her foot, and smashed a man's head into his crotch, all while singing his new single "For Your Entertainment."
ABC, which aired the awards show, received about 1,500 phone calls from people complaining about the performance, a number ABC calls "moderate."
An ABC News spokesperson tells TVNewser, "given his controversial live performance on the AMAs we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning."
Lambert performed as part of GMA's summer concert series in August, and it was in a "20/20" interview that Lambert came out, telling Chris Connelly, "I am gay, and I'm very comfortable with it."
Very funny. Networks have “Standards and Practices” and complete control of content. Networks can censor, edit or block any content they deem inappropriate for their air.
Well, they are cancelling the morning show........
That tells me, it’s a ‘scheduling’ to evening, when small children won’t be watching.
Yes, he’s beyond raunchy.
Sleazy behavior is now a part of American popular culture.
I’m glad I don’t watch the networks, they sound like crud.
"V" isn't bad. That is the only thing I get from ABC.
Gay Mans Advocates?
I thought it was about the actions of consenting adults in private. Yet here it is taught in public schools to children and litigated in the workplace and on ABC-Disney TV.
So the claim was nuthin’ but a big lie.
If it is on ABC-Disney then you get V-D.
No biggie....Madonna has been doing these same things since the 80s.... ;)
Yes, if it presents Christianity in a positive light, condemns abortion, mentions a fetus has a heartbeat, or challenges Obama's policies.
Lambert’s prancing aside, the song, and the singing, was horrendous.
I didn’t mean it to be funny. I was just stating a fact. Sorry if that offended you.
Some of the singers over the years really are talented. Just think of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, etc. Watching the singers mature in style over the competition is big part of AI's appeal.
So last year I watched AI, and this guy Adam Lambert really was a special singer. Incredible range, creative interpretations of songs. Gay as a rainbow flag, but it never was an issue--he was not overtly gay, not in-your-face. If you're not familiar with Lambert, go to Youtube and watch him sing Tracks of My Tears by Smokey Robinson. It's a beautiful performance of a great song.
So with every intention of buying Lambert's CD for my wife for Christmas, I see his performance on the AMAs. It is APPALLING. He has two men on dog leashes. He pulls one of the men's faces into his crotch and moves his pelvis to simulate fellatio. He makes out with his male guitarist.
Totally over the top, totally queer, totally in-your-face. Now if Adam Lambert wants to sing in Gay Revues and nightclubs and S&M bars, he can knock himself out. But if he wants to appeal to straight, Christian folks who tolerate but do not approve of homosexuality, he needs a new manager. I don't refuse to listen to Elton John--or Cole Porter, for that matter--because of their sexual choices. But I won't have it thrown in my face.
And I will NOT buy the CD. Two cheers for GMA for pulling his act.
This was probably too long, but I've written it, so now I'll post it.
I’m hardly offended. Its just nonsense. Adam Lambert can’t threaten anyone with anything.
I was reading an interview of Adam, the name of the magazine escapes me, but the interviewer said Adam’s publicist told him to keep the questions about his career and not try to be “too gay”, almost that Adam doesn’t want to be seen as a fluky gay singer and wants his music to speak for itself. The interviewer was peeved about this, I’m assuming because bedroom discussion is far more entertaining and sells more magazines.
I never got the vibe from him that he wanted to be a gay icon. In fact, he went forever without officially “outing” himself. And he still never seemed comfortable as being the gay dude from American Idol.
Because of that article, I wonder if his performance had more to do with his handlers wanting him to be more gay after the gay mafia presented some backlash from the interview. Not to blame everyone BUT him. He clearly went overboard with his sexuality. But he doesn’t have the final say in the performance. There are others to blame in addition to him.
Don’t get me wrong...I think “Father Figure” was the best song George Michael ever did.But he has misbehaved in public
and was arrested more than once for lewd behavior while in men’s restrooms.Just sayin’.
Agree 100%. Thanks for saving me the typing! ;o)
It’s a fact. You consider it nonsense. Flippantly I might add. Have a nice day.
