Adam Lambert, the American Idol star, outraged viewers of the American Music Awards with an X-rated performance in which he simulated oral sex with a male dancer.
Lambert set out to shock with a risque routine which also saw him kissing a male band mate and walking two men in bondage gear across the stage on dog leads. He was singing his new release, For Your Entertainment.
After the performance, his first since American Idol, Lambert said: "I'm hoping people were entertained. For those who weren't, maybe I'm not your cup of tea."
If the show was to be censored for the West Coast broadcast, it would amount to "discrimination", he added, mentioning the famous MTV awards show in which Britney Spears and Madonna shared a kiss. "I don't mean to get political but Madonna, Britney and Christina weren't edited. It's a shame. Female entertainers have been risque for years. Honestly, there's a huge double standard."
Viewers did not see it that way, with many claiming that the performance was not fit for primetime television. The Federal Communications Commission, which regulates US television, was braced for complaints.
On Twitter and internet forums, Lambert's routine was described as "disgustingly vulgar" and "totaly inappropriate" for a time slot when children were watching. The broadcaster, ABC, also came in for criticism. "Has ABC lost their minds? How on earth do they think airing this is ok? Im not at all impressed with Adam. More like disgusted," said one commenter on the Rolling Stone website.
Lambert posted a defiant message on his Twitter page, saying: "All hail freedom of expression and artistic integrity. :) fans: I adore u."

You got it, we have a plague of filth worshippers.
And, pushed to enact laws that silenced any criticism of their behavior.
More discusting to me than the performance is that the audience didn’t walk out or boo the hell out of this scumbag. In my view, gay or straight has little to do with a discusting performance by discusting charcters.
It’s sad that this performance will end up making this thing even more popular and richer. His performances will continue to draw record numbers and he’ll be the most popular until another freak comes along who shocks us even more. Hey, how about a human/animal sex act perhaps with an elephant with a child? Wouldn’t that be artistic?
What he did last night should have been censored. There is no constitutional right to behave obscenely, let alone over the public airwaves. And, there never has been.
Some of us here were stating that Kris Allen, a church choir director, beat Lambert because a good number of those watching didn't want a degenerate like Lambert winning American Idol.
Disgusting faggot.
bump for later read
ditto
I thought of his parents too, they had to be mortified. I would not see it as a proud moment, that’s for sure.
disclaimer: I would have bought his cd, liked his singing, but not after ‘that’ last night.
Seriously, I thought he was kissing a girl. And when the reports came out saying that he kissed a guy, I thought, I watched it, when did THAT happen??
Kris Allen has a better voice. Adam Lambert shrieks like I-don’t-know-what. Last night, his tongue was flailing out of his mouth, like he was a Gene Simmons/KISS wannabee. It was repulsive. I could only take a few seconds of his awful voice, then I turned the sound down, but watched the act. I saw the *kiss*, but thought it was a girl.
Apparently I missed that, too.
Good way to induce vomiting.Forget that syrup that’ll make you vomit!!!

We'll need a new word to encompass this.
How about "Gay-tard"...
