Which part of “volunteer army” was not clear?
And they know what causes babies nowadays...
Should have just asked to see Barry’s long form BC.
I have feeling both US army and civiian authority fail this poor lady

Can’t the Army come up with a baby backpack?
In my humble opinion, any female soldier who has a minor child at home should be released from the service. Can’t see why the formerly strongest army in the world puts up with this.
I know I’ll take a lot of hits for this, but the military is no place for women with minor children . . . and this is exhibit A.
She will probably be chaptered (kicked out) of the Army. If you are a single Soldier and don’t have a family care plan, the Army will most certainly kick you out.
Bad Conduct discharge and loss of all pay and privileges!
Convenience of the government discharge.
Thank you for your interest in national defense.
What about her husband???
Oh - wait, it isn’t politically correct to expect a woman to have a baby WHILE MARRIED.... ugh....
While I would never diminish the importance of a mother to a child, I also believe that we make commitments, we should KEEP them.
Will someone tell me why women are in the military? WHY?
It is against nature, and certainly motherhood for this woman to be anywhere but at home raising this child.
Where is the father of the baby?
I could go on, but that should be obvious to anyone with a brain stem.
“Her civilian attorney, Rai Sue Sussman, said Monday that one of Hutchinson’s superiors told her she would have to deploy anyway and place the child in foster care.”
- Wait..what? Did they really say FOSTER care?! Are they insane?
One might as well throw it into a den of wolves. She needs to tell them to get stuffed, or find some other SAFE alternative for her child.
If the mom is telling the truth, she’s between a rock and a hard place. I’ve supervised people who had to make that decision, male and female, and it isn’t an easy one. Fortunately for me, and our mission, all of mine were able to find someone they could trust. If she can’t, she has to be about as alone as it’s possible to get.
A good portion of today’s military is a politically correct, welfare agency, forced diversity laboratory, and daycare center.
Witness this idiot—and many like her, as well as the career of Malik Hasan.
We have many fine people in the service today—(I wouldn’t go in today for a million bucks—and not because of the war-because of the enemies within)—most of those good folks with sore backs from carrying the load for the worthless—and we have great technology. Otherwise, we’d be in deep doo-doo.
Baby, belongs with the mother...and mother with baby... easy call. I have two daughters in the USMC and still feel this way.
The best solution to this problem is the one that will never occur. Women should never have been permitted to join the Armed Forces.
Please note in this story that the baby is 10 months old and the woman joined the forces in 2007. I guess we paid health care for her pregnancy and got some shit on a shingle for our trouble.
Perhaps she’ll find it easier to care for the baby from the opposite side of the cell bars?
Sorry, darlin.’ You took the Queen’s shilling, and you must do the Queen’s bidding.
That said, the worse she really faces is probably a General Discharge, and maybe a fine.
There are times when family needs interfere with our jobs - no question about it. As individuals we have a responsibility to address these problems honorably and with foresight. Babies don't appear overnight, and deployments are a fact of military life. While I don't really think it's right to have babies while on active duty, I'd rather see her care for her child than abort it. However, if she wasn't willing and able to deploy when called, she should have requested a hardship discharge right away. Readiness is part of her job. She's been accepting payment for doing only part of her job.
