Royal Caribbean's new floating city arrived today at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., dwarfing apartment buildings and generally giving hope to a state soon to be deluged by sea level rise. Oasis of the Seas makes the Titanic look like a bath toy

Also known as the world’s largest target.

That is, without a doubt, one of the ugliest water going sights I’ve ever seen.

someone in the [alledged]PR effort said it was “5 time larger than the Titanic”...can’t get more left handed compliment than that!

The gearhead in me thinks this is awesome, and it’s a triumph of capitalism.

OTOH, I really don’t see the point. Maybe because I go on vacations to get away from people, not join a few hundred (few thousand?) going to the same place I am...

Then there’s the logistical aspect of offloading all those passengers in an emergency, or even just at port.

I cannot imagine a worse vacation than being on a cruise ship, especially the biggest cruise ship with the most people, all telling you about their grandchildren or trying to sell you insurance.

Some wealthy passengers were overheard saying, “Even God Himself couldn’t sink this ship”.

That thing looks built for a Poseiden adventure.

Looks like the projects on water. Float the homless from Detroit to D.C.

I have a picture of CVN-76 going past that same spot. I think this ship is bigger.

Looks VERY, VERY top heavy.

I wouldn't want to be on the top deck in rough seas, I don't care what they use for countering roll or pitch.

(ps. Its a long walk from the top decks to the life boats) (wouldn't it be easier just to wait a little while, they'd eventually come UP to you ;)

I would like to see a diagram of it compared to the Titanic, a modern aircraft carrier, oil tanker, and super cargo ship.

It is also the world’s ugliest cruise ship. It looks very much like a Toyota auto transporter. Huge and really ugly.

I have cruised out of Port Everglades several times. That ship is HUGH! (I’m series.) I don’t know how the Caribbean ports are going to handle so many people. They are already getting crowded, what with 4 or 5 normal-sized ships in a port on a given day.

Notice how it wasn’t built in America. Our politicians have sold this country out. We don’t build anything here.

Anchored in international waters, next to a similarly anchored floating airfield, and ya got yaself a country! :’)
