I'm not military, but my understanding is that a Purple Heart is for those wounded in action. Do these dead and wounded qualify? If not, would it be proper to lobby for them to receive the medal.
Thanks!
I suspect the order of the PH could be justified to be awarded to all persons so involved, and it could also be justified to be withheld.
FWIW, I have known some Marines from WWII and Korea and Vietnam who found the PH to be more of an insult than complement, because in order to have received one, means one was a loser regardless the cause of the wound, yet their duty is to not be a loser or get wounded in the first place and prevail in armed conflict regardless.
I suspect there have been enough wounded from the last 8 years that many do not take that view nor look upon it disparagingly.
I understand what you are getting at,though during Nam alot of soldiers were killed in other Theaters. And those folks got nothing, except an early trip back.
These soldiers at Hood were just like those soldiers.Understand that I’m not being cold-hearted.
This was murder, that’s the way I see it.That attack in Kuwait on our soldiers by that Buck Sargent was in fact an attack on our folks by the enemy.I don’t know if anyone recieved a Purple Heart, they should have if not. They were deployed in a combat zone.Again I’m not being cold, just,,,
All this PC is senseless to me.I’s getting our people killed.
At the same time I understand what you’re saying.
I don't think you really do understand. This also gives you away as not having served in the armed forces. If I'm wrong, I apologize. However, I don't think there is a veteran here who disagrees with me.
Now, go read post number 31. If you would agree that this was a terrorist attack, then the regs make it very clear that the killed and wounded rate, and deserve the awarding of the Purple Heart.
That being said, this administration will never admit a terrorist act took place. In doing so they will concede that Dick Cheney was right in stating that we are less safe from terrorist attack today than we were under President Bush.
By denying this was a terrorist attack this administration is depriving the families of the fallen warriors of this simple symbol of the value of their sacrifice for their country.
And that is dispicable!
