Very good news' for Torchwood fans!
SciFi Wire ^ | 11/11/09

Posted on 11/11/2009 6:26:02 PM PST by KevinDavis

If you watched Torchwood's last season, the Children of Earth miniseries, it felt a lot like the end of the whole thing.

Well, that may not be the case, TV Guide reported (mild spoilers ahead):

Torchwood might not have concluded its run at the end of the thrilling miniseries Children of Earth after all—Ianto's tragic death not withstanding. The new year could bring some "very good news" for fans of the sexy sci-fi series, creator Russell T. Davies tells TV Guide Magazine.

"The recession has hit British television, but fingers crossed, it will be a go. We expect things to start to move in January. We've got great ideas for the show. I think there's a further lease on life for many years to come, but certainly for a [fourth season]," Davies says.

No word on when or where we'd likely see this new season of the Doctor Who spinoff, who might return or how long it might run, but any news is good news, right?

I haven’t seen any episodes of Torchwood. I am, however, very much a fan of what Davies was able to do with the new Doctor Who . . . and the series has gotten even better (imho) since Moffat took over.

Bump. Good news also if they get back to sci fi and lose the gay making out scenes.

Moffat is brilliant, very sharp wit. I wish Coupling didn’t end after four seasons, it was some of his best writing.

i love doctor who... but the homo sex scenes have no place in the series. it’s overt homo propaganda, and the ratings show how the audience feels

the main show, doctor who, does amazing. torchwood always limps along.

i hope the main show doesn’t get infected with the same meme and starts to push the homo crap even more then they have in the past (they would mention something, but always in passing).

Gay Doctor Who. Who wouldn’t want to watch that?

Different time slots, geared to different audiences. And they try to keep them separate.

Not that I noticed, but from what I heard after the fact, when Martha Jones appeared on Torchwood, so didn't swear or exhibit any typical Torchwood behavior, so as not to tarnish the brand, as it were.

I don’t think the new one is coming on until 2010 (so I guess that is technically when Moffat will be in charge proper). I’ve enjoyed Tennant very much . . . he’s definately my favorite doctor, excluding Tom Baker of course, and if you haven’t seen the episodes Human Nature/The Family of Blood I would strongly recommend them . . . almost up there with City of Death.

Technically, he’s omni-sexual as he will have sex with just about anything. But, the homosexual aspect of it did turn me off from the show as well.

I was recently best man at a wedding and all I could think the entire time was “please . . . please no giggle loop”.

Coupling was absolutely hilarious.

for fans of the sexy sci-fi series

I guess it's sexy if you are a Homosexual... I have tried to watch it. A show with potential, if they would just lay off the hyper-effort to sexualize so much - and a large part of that homosexual crap.

When does Dr. Who come back to the Sy-fi channel or BBC America?

I think SyFy might not be broadcasting the latest season. It was always hard to tell when they were going to start anyway . . . since the show has so few episodes per season.

Off-topic, but: Dollhouse

has been officially cancelled, if there is anyone out there who cares. Hubby and I watch, but not really thrilled with the concept.

From AICN:

"To the surprise of no one, Fox has cancelled Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse.” The network still intends to air the remaining 9 of the 13 season-two episodes ordered, the bulk of them in December."

I wouldn't worry about that. Russell T. Davies is a homo agenda pusher. He is no longer the head writer at Dr. Who. Next year, the head writer will be Stephen (Steven?) Moffat. He has written all the best episodes of the new Doctor, and with nary a mention of homosexuality.
