YOU SEE AN ARMORED CAR DRIVE OFF, A LARGE BAG OF MONEY FALLS OUT. WHAT DO YOU DO?

No one saw the truck drive off, it left the alley between the bank and another business. You could pick up the cash and no one would see you. What should you do?

I've found several 1000円 and 5000円 notes on the sidewalk. It's found money. I took everything else to the nearest Koban.

“Pick up the money and return it to the driver of the truck before he gets to where he’s going......”

I thought about that. Then I wondered: How do you get the driver of an armored truck to stop and talk to you before he gets to where he’s going?

If it’s bundled and sequentially numbered I’d launder it as it came from the reserve bank and they will use the numbers to track it down.

Just dirty old money, Galt’s gultch baby. I’ll be living off the grid asap.

So if it was $1 million - you return it. If it is $10 million, what then? Just asking.

There is the possibility that the driver dropped the bag for an accomplice to pick up. When the accomplice finds you with the bag, good luck.

Japanese yen.

OK, I am too western - i know it as this symbol "¥" rather than "円". I presume that this is like "$" vs USD. Another piece of knowledge that I am sure I will forget shortly!

It would all come out in the next polygraph sweep anyway, so back it would go. But first, I would take a picture of me lying on a bed of cash and send it to my ex-wife’s lawyer.

Run after the truck since the original bag "fell out" maybe some more will follow.

However it's a bit unlikely that an armoured truck will drive off with the back door open and a bag of money falls out.

Could be a robbery in progress....guards killed....miscreants abscond sans single bag of cash.

The symbol for the yen is written in two different ways. When written ahead of the amount (western style), it is written "¥" (a half-width character). When written after the amount (as is usual and will appear on the currency itself), it is written with the double-width character "円". I've lived in Japan, so I prefer the native Japanese spelling.

Even though I've been to China, please do not ask me about the difference between the naming of the Chinese currency. It's either Yuan or Remnibi and I only saw Remnibi when I was in China.

Turn it in, especially since when hyper inflation hits it will turn out that I sold my integrity for the equivalent of a loaf of bread.

Had that problem once - or one very similar. I found a paper bag half full of $500, $100, $50 and $20 bills, about $150,000 altogether, and neatly wrapped with bank bands. It was money to pay the fishermen in an Alaskan city. The buyers there paid in cash in those days. I carefully considered what I could do with it and whether or not I could get away with it and decided there was no way I could.

I always liked to say that my “integrity” was worth more than money, but at that time I was all but broke and my family wasn’t eating real regularly. My integrity? It depends on what my family is going through at the time. For those of you that think yours is worth more than your families... Well, lets hope you’re never faced with the choice I was. You may find out, as I did, that you’re not quite as strong as you’d like to think.

Of course it isn’t likely that anyone will have to make that sort of decision, is it?

Believe it or not I don’t feel I am entitled to other people’s money.

Obviously, you're not a democrat
