Nothing yet has exceeded the amount of energy that is stored in the atom, and liberating that energy is a very clean source of power. The French supply almost all of their electrical generation needs via nuclear power, and they have pioneered techniques for recycling and reusing fuel assemblies.

One excellent way to stimulate the economy would be for the Federal Government to announce a sponsorship of 20 new nuclear power plants around the country, and that the permitting process was going to be streamlined to take no more than a year.

Building nuclear power plants would make the most sense for our long term power requirements, and would provide many of the jobs we so desperately need in this country.

Making Renewable Energy Practical
This horse has been beat since Carter ... and where are we?

Geez - give it up already!

If we had an administration with their head on straight, we would move on nuclear like a bear on a honey pot ...

We could put pedal powered generators into every prison cell. Each prisoner would be expected to generate 1.2 kWhr of power per day (100 W/hr * 12 hr). They could eat and sleep the other twelve hours. This not only would generate a lot of power, but would provide valuable exercise for the prisoners and it would be an excellent deterrent for future incarceration.

Exelon runs a Pumped Storage Facility at Muddy Run in Lancaster County Pa., it provides storage for peaks and is great for fishing and birding too.
