True...but it might creep the neighbors out. I’m really hoping the original poster has a private drive or something.
My worst day, both toddlers crying that they wanted me to hold them. Then one puked on one leg and the other puked on the other.
Anyone who says being a parent isn’t a job doesn’t actually raise their own children.
In New York and New Jersey, Garbage collector, longshoreman, and crane operator are great paying jobs, with the latter two often bringing in the low six figures after overtime and a few years on the job. However, 1. somebody has to die first before a job opens and 2. you better have several members of your family to already have a connection in to get leads for the jobs in the first place.
Sometimes tough love is the better love. I don’t mean you have to be mean or beat a kid by that...lol They learn to stand on there own. It’s good for them and society as a whole. No one does there kids any favors by, handing them everything, it teaches them nothing and makes them more likely to not survive very well in the real world. You see that in nature as well, the momma bird pushing the baby bird out of the nest and making them fly. She doesn’t do it to be mean. She does it so her babies will survive and thrive.
Your post made me laugh! We had a ‘grab’n’scoop’ episode just a little while ago.
“sanitaion engineer”
PC crap!!!
It’s still garbage collector!!!
Before he died my father took all of his grandsons on a tour of a semi local rendering plant. He just asked them to go for a ride without telling them where they were going. While inside he made it clear that without a good education one way or another, this would be one of the types of very honorable jobs available. They all got the message. I am very proud of all my nephews; nieces too for that matter.
In 1947 they changed the designation of janitor in the school to custodian.
I refused to go along and called him a janitor!
This PC crap started a long time ago!!!
Quick-sevice restaurant ...
I have been working at a place like that for a couple of years now. I said I would never, ever work in a restaurant, but now I’m eating my words.
It’s not too bad if I can rein in my Mom voice: “Just be quiet and eat your dinner.”
It's not necessarily my dream job but it really works with my schedule and I do have a great deal of satisfaction in finding a way to provide something without not being there where I'm needed.
Pls ignore the typo. lol
Come on, don’t let political corectness annoy you; I was just telling my Under-Age Self-Supporter in Training that if I hadn’t got this job as an Unpaid Womanual Labourer and Youth Educational Enhancement Supervisor, I don’t know what I would have done!
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat."
God bless you and your husband, FourPeas. I know your situation with your favored nephew is difficult.
Grizzled Bear
You've got it easy.
Wombats make me kill.
Oh no...they are calling me again.
Having brought up four children, I'm well aware of real life which entails anything that must be done.
When I think about it now, though, it could be deemed "classy". What's more important than taking care of a dependent child?
Yet I was not referring to what most of us do or have done. Do we really have to describe the details in a post?
Just my opinion; you're certainly welcome to ignore it. :-)
No big deal. Just another example of the cultural decline in the U.S. I don't expect you to get it.
At 22 I started driving a taxi one summer. That was 16 years ago. I still do it. While I am starting my own online t-shirt site and still have aspirations for writing and web design, I like what I do and I am not ashamed of it at all.
I meet interesting people - all the time. My job is rarely boring. I do this on Long Island and the money is a lot better than most people think it is. On weekends, I can usually clear $400 - $500 alone - just on Friday and Saturday night. And the best part is - I do this while driving people home and giving them a safe ride instead of them drunk driving. I also have fun doing it. It’s one adventure after another.
Another thing that gets me is this... I am also a fill in dispatcher. It’s a Long Island cab company. We are hurting for drivers!! WE NEED DRIVERS! It amazes me when we’re in this so-called high unemployment times - meanwhile, anyone with a driver’s license and a sense of direction can take home $750 to over $1,000 a week driving a cab.
The sad thing is - so many people have too much pride and feel they’re above it somehow.
I like what I do. I take people home. I hear they’re stories. I meet a lot of women. I prevent drunk drivers from getting behind the wheel. Every night is a new and interesting experience. I went to college for accounting but I don’t do it. I don’t want to. I have a job that I actually enjoy and as long as I live within my means, I live comfortably. I can go to Vegas twice a year for a little rest and relaxation. Or wherever I want to go.
I make money on the side doing web design and I am also good at cartoons which is why I will open my own online t-shirt business. I’m not looking for a million bucks, but enough to pay a couple of bills on the side.
I go to the gym. I am a proud rightwing pajama blogger and Freeper.
I am happy.
That’s all that matters.
How about a child that is an employed actor??? talk about the knife’s edge....
I “got it”, numbnuts—I was just saying I didn’t enjoy the original post-as I guess you didn’t either.
Yea, I suppose that would be living on the edge, unless they are on the high end. You can still do other jobs when not employed. Mow lawns(oh yea, illegals do that now), work in a restaurant (oh yea, stupid me, illegals do that job now too), paint houses(oh yea, ditto the above), I don’t know there a million and one things you can do(oh yea, ditto the above ditto). Especially if you live in a bigger city(oh yea.......
