I have got a lovely black lab also....its slightly raining out tonight. She refused to go out if its possible her feet might get wet.....weird lab. Got her into my daughters pond up to her knees then she put on the brakes...I give up on her getting wet in any way, shape or form...
Our girl has been in love with the water since we brought her home at 8 weeks old. (She's 9 yrs now) She started out by putting both front feet in her water dish when she'd drink. And it doesn't matter if it's the 4th of July or New Years Day, she'd jump in the pool at the drop of a hat... or a ball/stick/frisbee in her case. :)
You have to watch out though when you're letting the dogs in the house. She may be a wet mop.
I have a brown lab named Sophie. She is in the Candlewood tradition and is bred for vitality and strength. She is the same way and it is raining here too. Finally, though, she will go out a little. I have been trying to train her by taking her on a leash and forcing her out in the rain. You would think that she thinks that she will melt. She does like to be rubbed down with a thick cotton towel afterward.
