Just breaking...found in a Georgia landfill..confirmed by Gov. Crist
I used to shop with my mother and was Adam’s age when he was taken at the Hollywood Fashion Mall. I used to play in the play area for kids at that very Sears. The Adam Walsh story is a massive scar on south florida to this day.

That’s been updated. The people involved in that have since reported in to police (apparently when they realized their behavior had been seen as suspicious, when all the publicity about Somer’s disappearance hit the news). Police now believe it was just a case of people who saw a child crying (I think they said she’d fallen off her bike) and stopped to see if she needed help.
Tears of sadness for this wee one and prayers for the family.

I agree: a teenage babysitter for my grandson was found crying when their Dad came home from work. My seven year old grandson had darted way ahead of her on his bike on an outing to get ice cream. ...can happen easily.

When I was a kid, it was no big deal for kids to go out alone, I think the Walsh case was the turning point, along with the emergence of 24-hour Cable News Channels. I would never let my kids do the things I could do when I was their age.
Just FYI - The investigators who discovered the child’s body at the landfill haven’t yet confirmed that it is Somer, but they are pretty sure it is because the trash in that area of the landfill was collected from her city.
It’s actually possible that the child did get lost after she ran ahead of her siblings, got into a dumpster when night fell, and was carted off by a trash truck whose driver had no idea there was a child in the dumpster. A number of adults have had near-misses this way, and a few have been killed. And young children tend to sleep much more soundly than adults, and so might very well not wake up when a big truck backs up to their sleeping place (in the case of adults, it generally seems to require drugs and/or alcohol to sleep through the approach of a trash truck).
One of the state's fundamental functions is to protect polite society and they're not doing it.
The first thing my 12 yr old asked when he got in the car was IF they had found her, told him no. Now came home to read this. So sad. He had woke up this morning with a nightmare that someone tried to grab him after his Dad let him go to a restroom at a gas station and he came and got in bed with me @ 5 a.m. This was the last news story he saw before leaving for school and the first thing he asked about when I saw him this afternoon. I think this affects our kids hearing tragic stories in the news more than we think. To this day, he has me “count” when he wheels our trash can down to the end of the driveway . . . more for a race . . . but I know he really just needs me watching him at we live in a “safe” residential area.
What are the other 145 classified as? This is the problem with turning "sex offender" into a catch-all category and filling up the registry with people who aren't really a public danger.
Guess we’ll find out soon enough what happened.
Predatory sex offenders CANNOT be rehabilitated. They desire children. The death penalty must be enacted for child molesters. It is the only way to ensure their is no continuing victims.
They don’t stop because they know they are going to do a few years, then be let back out amongst their prey.
Do yourself a favor, protect your children from the news media. The 24 x 7 horror flick is more than anyone can handle. The bodies keep on mounting, and it is very scary for a child.
Let them keep their childhood as long as they can.

Well, when the President of the United States allows a perverted "Safety" Czar for schools, one who has praised the leader of NAMBLA, to be appointed to his Administration, don't you think that gives credibility to the pedophiles activities? They see society "changing," as is the case with the support for Roman Polanski, and accepting of their perversions. Lord, help us.

Possibly not accurate, but that’s what I’ve been reading. Then I saw the “10 minute walk” line, and thought, hey, that doesn’t compute.
