Just breaking...found in a Georgia landfill..confirmed by Gov. Crist
So sad :(
Add "Donna Willing", here in Milwaukee.
Re pink / black / skull theme.
They play songs by this person on Radio Disney
We need to return to the old fashioned way of handling these vermin.
True, on both counts, but with counseling, they both could be helped. I hope a family member will help the parents see this, since they’re going to be consumed with their own grief, and get help for the kids.
skull and crossbones back pack ...
No, not rare. Popular pattern. “Becky Bones.” Seen more around Halloween.
Ah, okay, thanks. Never seen one, and living in Manhattan, I thought I’d seen everything :-) Though it would be odd for a kid to have special Halloween-themed backpack, since backpacks are generally a year-round sort of item.
It doesn’t appear the parents are going to be working as a team on this:

Thompson declined to speak with the media Wednesday, but he did talk to reporters Tuesday night, and said his ex-wife should never have let Somer and her sister walk home from school. My question is, hows a child just disappear and why are a five and seven year old walking almost a mile home from school, especially in an area where there are so many sex predators within a certain mile radius, Thompson said.
Oh man...this sounds messy...very messy.
And there’s more, over here:

(I need to stop double-posting to both these threads, so going to stick to the newer one now.)
I hope there are others who will take these kids under their wings, and watch out for them, since their parents are going to be otherwise occupied fighting each other.
See the post I linked to on the other thread. I have a feeling the father will have sole custody soon.
“Weird detail on the latest Fox News version of this story:
Her backpack is black with pink and white skulls and crossbones. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,568982,00.html
Am I just out of touch with American kid culture, or is that a really odd thing for a 7 year old girl to have adorning her pretty pink backpack?”
You’d be surprised how much skull and crossbones stuff for little girls there is. I’ve seen shirts, bags, pants, earrings, etc. It is surprisingly common.
You learn all sorts of weird stuff on FR. Now I know about skull-and-crossbones backpacks for little girls.
But I doubt her “parents” picked it out. More likely mom and/or mom’s boyfriend, because that’s who she lived with. And I’ll be really surprised if the boyfriend isn’t in custody within 48 hours.
no--i've seen this version of skull and bones... i have two boys who love the whole pirate thing, and this litle girl version is not exactly the same... it's kind of cutesy as far as skull and bones go... i think i've even seen it at Hello Kitty or Sanrio... but i could be wrong about where i've seen it...
They found her purse and cell phone (missing its battery) in a nearby parking lot. They’ve called off the search. It doesn’t look good. She’s 20 years old. A Virginia Tech student, she had gone to UVA for a Metallica concert (the band has a plea for help finding her on its website).
Prayers for Morgan and her family.
Hell, we attempted to pass a law that would impose the DEATH PENALTY on repeat offenders.
You folks in Florida need to gut your F’in state gov and start over with some reps who will pass the tough laws and follow up.
BTW: starting off a conversation with, “do you have the IQ of a 5 year old?” makes me think the same of you.
You need to practice up on your manners before you reply to me again.
You're right, it doesn't. Even when I was in shape, the fastest I could walk a mile with my gait was just around 13 minutes.
RE: the backpack.
C’mon...are you really gonna say there is something wrong with the parents bcuz they allowed their 7-year old to have a backpack like the one in your post??? Heaven forbid, the parents let their kid have a cool backpack! How dare they!? They deserve this to have happened to them!
Seriously, get a grip. Most kids this age have parents who grew up in the 80s, with a rock-n-roll mentality. It’s a cool backpack and doesn’t have anything to do with her disappearance or the quality of parenting she received at home.
It always seems that there is a chorus of people so eager to attack the parents, when the parents are suffering so badly. I pray that you never find yourselves in this situation, only to find folks questioning your choice of clothing and accessories for your missing child.
It’s just ridiculous.
