BusinessWeek magazine seems to have jumped the gun on Apple's announcements today
- the Apple Store is still down in the US and UK,
but BusinessWeek's story is up,
saying there are upgrades to the MacBook and iMac lines.
[Update: perhaps we were just being cached to death
- everyone else seemed to see the products while we were getting the same no-show.
But this is still a prebrief - read on.]

blah blah blah blah. run and shout. now don’t you feel better?
Please don’t run FR into the ground with your childish behavior.
Actually there wasn’t a crash of this thread, but this thread crashed the FR party by posting it on breaking news. You’d think MAC would have just beat windows or cured cancer to make it in the breaking news. But it’s just another upgrade (which is nice to have, but clearly not breaking news on FR).
The thread has been removed from “breaking news”. Happy?
If you’re not interested in the subject of this thread, you don’t have to click on it.
Some of us ARE interested in the subject, and are happy about the news, and want to discuss it.
Either participate positively or take a hike, please. The FR party is big enough to handle one small circle of people shouting “Yippie!” and happily talking about a subject of mutual interest, without someone else barging over and trying to break it up.
And yes, I’m actually pretty excited about the new mouse. Wish I had known when I was at the local Apple Store at lunch.
I think it’s pretty dang slick.
Yes now I too am happy since this has been removed from breaking news. Yes FR is big enough for everyone, but only when we follow the rules (like not posting things such as this thread to Breaking news).
Glad we are both happy now.
Where are the two articles I posted earlier this morning in Chat from Apple Insider, a legitimate news source, about the same subject, only with details? Why were they pulled?
Jim Robinson has told me in the past that similar posts were acceptible and has even over-ruled the moderator who pulled them and reinstated the threads.
There are almost 400 Freepers on the Mac Ping List who have ask me to post such threads as those that were pulled for some unknown reason. Please renstate those threads.
Hahahahahahhahahahaha
If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
BTTT
I think a dual 2.66 CPU with a terabyte of DASD
with Unix© Server Software for $999
4GB of real memoryis big breaking business news
Add a Raid system to it for $799
Promise SmartStor DS4600 4x1TB RAID System
Which provides 2.7GB in RAID 5,
formatted with HFS+
connected via firewire 800Hot-Swappable Bays
Really nice Unix© server for $1800
That should read 2861.02 GB of usable Raid 5 space
I was wondering where they went as well.
I thought I was dreaming. The thread is there.. then, it's gone! I actually went back to the Apple website to see if the new iMacs were for real. They are.
I agree. I depend on Swordmaker to keep me up to date on all things Mac.
He saves me a lot of time, which I do not have. DH has parkinson’s, and my ‘puter time is limited. Please reconsider pulling the Mac threads.
Free Republic is a noncommercial site and we normally do not allow solicitations, advertisements or sales pitches for products or services. If you post an article which is really nothing more than an advertisement for a product, you shouldn’t be surprised if our moderators pull it. And, no, sorry but Apple product releases are not breaking news on Free Republic.
Ok, I understand the problem with this last. Swordmaker usually keeps us informed on upgrades and other info. Some of us have been eager to hear about the new releases, so we can save up.
Sorry to have troubled you, and thank you for the explanation.
Jim, thanks for the response. I agree this is not a "Breaking News" subject on FR, but it has certainly been suitable for the "Chat" area in the past, which is where I placed the two articles that were pulled this morning. I deliberately avoided posting the press release from Apple and instead posted two articles from a news source about the topics. These articles would have been of interest to at least 400 fellow Freepers, that's why I posted them and why I'm requesting that they be replaced for discussion among the members of the Mac Ping list. Thanks, again, for your attention.
